News10 "We have lost the live feed from the delta-mendota canal, we will be up shortly, thanks for your patience"

Divers are now taking, they say, one last look at all three blocks of the siphon. If they don't find anything, says Sheriff's spokesman Royjindar Singh, they will end the underwater search.

At that point, they would continue vehicle patrols of the Delta-Mendota Canal, starting in Stanislaus County, stretching all the way south to Fresno County. (The canal's end point is the town of Mendota.)

Deputy Singh says those patrols began days ago, with sheriff's agencies in the multiple counties that sit along the canal, patrolling the banks of the canal.

If nothing else is found in the siphon, there would also be an overhead search of the water by a CHP fixed-wing aircraft. That aircraft can fly for many miles south of this location, should bodies or evidence float to the surface of the water.

Deputy Singh says Sheriff's investigators are estimating that in the winter months, it would take 14 days for a body to float to the surface of the water.

That clip with her breaking into that wail...it just tore me up. That poor woman!!! I want to see someone put their arms around her!!

I felt the same way... just wanted to hug her and cry with her. I sat there in tears, praying that they wouldn't find that little boy's body and announce it on the air with her sitting there!
There was absolutely no reason whatsoever to have her on the show while this was going on, other than to raise their ratings.

Ok, I think there may be some confusion as to which canal we are looking at. There is the California Aqueduct and the Delta Mendota Canal. I think it is the Aqueduct that goes into the forebay vs. the canal which follows the same path much of the way, but then parallels 33 and ends up in Mendota Pool in Mendota.

Last night I was on auto pilot and went straight for familiar territory and the forebay. Now that I've had some sleep and a pot of coffee, I think I may have been focused on the wrong waterway, albeit they're right next to each other much of the way.

Anyone?

The canal runs south along the western edge of the San Joaquin Valley, parallel to the California Aqueduct for most of its journey, but it diverges to the east after passing San Luis Reservoir, which receives some of its water. The water is pumped from the canal and into O'Neill Forebay, and then it is pumped into San Luis Reservoir by the Gianelli Pumping-Generating Plant. Occasionally, water from O'Neill Forebay is released into the canal. The Delta-Mendota Canal ends at Mendota Pool, on the San Joaquin River near the town of Mendota, 30 mi (48 km) west of Fresno.

Who is plagiarizing what? If two people say the same thing, one after the other..that is not plagiarizing. Check Find Law.

Do we know exactly what the farmer and the waitress said? or still 3ed handed?

http://www.pattersonirrigator.com/v...ters-day-four?instance=lead_story_left_column

talks about the farmer and his son seeing the car.

I wonder if the farmer is an illegal? maybe got paid off to say that or like the article says may have been eariler, but farmer was afraid. afraid of what???

I wonder if the bodies are wedged underneath one of these vehicles

Something I was wondering is that maybe he had planned on jumping out of the car and escaping.... Two windows were down - they didn't say 'broken', they said 'down' - like he had them rolled down. Considering he had abducted little Juliani, I doubt he was buckled into a carseat or anything. So may he was holding him so he wouldn't get out of the car after being abducted, and IF he planned on ditching the car to scare the mom and then go hide or try to go somewhere like Mexico, then maybe he had Juliani in his lap so they could get out? Then when they hit the water, maybe the force of the water prevented them from getting out, or they did get out on their own but just couldn't surface or get out.

I still think this was a murder-suicide, but the windows being down have me stumped. So I'm trying to think outside the box about what could have taken place.

In the murder-suicide vein of thought, maybe he had the windows down to let the water in faster, and didn't expect that they would get sucked out from the pressure?

oh dear, I saw it on a chat session, and assumed (ack!) we had already discussed it.
the chat line mentioned the waitress that saw them. thats all I know. :(

On the news 10 chat?

Did it seem like a rumor? I haven't been able to find anything about it in MSM.

I am guessing a typo.

Witness became waitress.

Okay, that makes even more sense. Unless someone was talking about his grandmother, who was a waitress (now? at one time?), saw him being abducted...?

When I google Juliani and waitress, the only thing I get is two waitresses who talked to the media and offered support to the grandmother, who was also a waitress that they had worked with. I don't see anything else either.

I just read that full article and noticed two things I didn't know before (bbm):

Rodriguez has an extensive criminal background and should be considered dangerous, according to Deputy Raj Singh, a Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department spokesman. In the past, he has been charged with unlawful sexual intercourse and drunken driving, and he was convicted of manslaughter in 1999, Singh said.

Rodriguez, who lives in Modesto, had been stalking the Cardenas family since the previous evening, according to friends and family. He knocked on Amparo Cardenas' bedroom window late Monday night and loitered on the Del Puerto Preschool campus where Juliani attends school on Tuesday, Amparo Cardenas and witnesses said. He also knocked once and then entered the Cardenas' home earlier Tuesday.

I see many JR's as RSO's but none that I can match up to this one. Would 'unlawful intercourse' qualify someone as a 'sex offender' or not?

I looked up the law online and California's 'unlawful intercourse' offense appears to be for statutory rape. But it sure does have some broad guidelines, such as outlining fines for a perp over the age of 21 and a 'victim' under the age of 16. But how much younger than 16 could the victim be and still have it be 'unlawful intercourse'? I didn't see a 'floor' for the age limit, kwim?

Anyone have any better knowledge of this law?
