GUILTY CA - Justice Rees, 2 wks, Woodland, 24 Feb 2015

Here we go again - who called 911? It has been reported SG called, but then we see above that the man who found her alerted LE. Why the confusion on a basic fact?

I am trying to reconcile something about this story. Just recently, Mom was able to tell police who kidnapped her. But why didn't she do that immediately when she was first found?

At least LE should be able to verify or discredit such specific information pretty quickly, I hope.

How very sad. RIP Justice.

#BREAKING: Sheriff says baby Justice died from drowning or hypothermia
http://on.news10.net/1apjuaM

https://twitter.com/News10_CA/status/571091113215447040

I have company to attend to but wanted to share a quick update. :(

http://www.news10.net/story/news/lo...ected-today-on-baby-found-in-slough/24052053/

There were no obvious signs of trauma on the baby's body and he had been dead for several hours when found by the Yolo County sheriff's marine patrol unit looking for him, authorities indicated earlier Thursday.
...
Green has claimed she and Justice were abducted. She was located Tuesday evening in the Ridge Cut Slough area.

Prieto said his investigators have not be able to substantiate the abduction claim.

Looks like a body of an infant was found :(

I doubt there is another infant missing at this time. I'll reserve what I think about the "mother" until more info comes out but I have a feeling the words "postpartum depression" is sure to show up.

BBM

PPD is a very serious and REAL disease. Unless you have been there don't be so quick to judge this woman too harshly. IF she did what we all are assuming she did then yes, it's a despicable and terribly horrific thing to do,however, we must remember she was not in her right mind while doing so. Not an excuse, but she will likely realize at some point in the future what she has done and the hell she will live in the rest of her life will be worse than anything anybody could wish upon her. Tragic to say the least. So important to reach out for help before it's too late. God knows where I'd be now if I hadn't... Prayers and love for this family, sweet baby, and his mother, too.

If she did have postpartum psychosis, then I have nothing but deep sorrow for her. :rose:

According to the Sheriff's Department press release from yesterday it was the neighbor:

At approximately 5:30 last night a citizen of Knights Landing, in rural Yolo County, called 911
stating he had found a young woman crying and hysterical on the east levee of Ridge Cut
Slough near the entrance to the town.

Here's the press release on the autopsy:

http://www.yolocountysheriff.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Autopsy-press-release.pdf

An autopsy was completed this afternoon on the body of the infant located yesterday in Knights Landing. At this time the cause and manner have yet to be determined pending additional testing and toxicology results. Possible causes of death could include exposure due to hypothermia and/or drowning. Testing and toxicology results could take several months.

I agree. Is it possible that doctors at the hospital missed such a diagnosis? I'm not being snarky. Given her condition (disoriented, memory lapse, claiming she was abducted) I assume the hospital's psychiatrist evaluated her. While I have faith in doctors in general I'm aware that they can sometimes mistakenly dismiss symptoms, especially those involving "woman troubles," but I would think that because her baby was missing at the time she would have been thoroughly examined. Yet they discharged her last night.

There's no evidence that anyone else was involved so I'm pretty much concluding she's either making up a story or truly delusional. And again, if she's delusional why on earth was she discharged?

Family members told reporters Wednesday and again Thursday that they believe Green was a victim of an abduction and physical abuse. But Prieto said authorities so far have turned up no evidence of that being the case.

“We’re looking into it. We have not substantiated any of that,” he said. “But (anything) the family comes up with or anyone comes up with, we are looking into it. There will be no stone unturned.”

And why is her family insisting she was abducted? If it's not true they're doing her no favors.

Meanwhile, Green's relatives said Thursday that she has identified the person responsible for her baby's death and has given that name to investigators. Yet, Prieto said that information hasn't gotten them anywhere.

"We have not been able to substantiate that allegation," Prieto said. "We're not saying it didn't happen. We're having difficulty substantiating it. We're not ignoring it."

I actually hope that the abduction story is real - it's the better option. :(

Mom is back posting on fb, so one can assume she is not on a psych hold somewhere.

See post #46 (on iPad, can't copy) where the MSM article linked states SG called 911 hysterically. That is where I found the inconsistency.

Pre conference heads up from sheriff to media – will not share all details. Nothing in investigation was ignored.

Presser:

Thanks all officers involved. Tragic story, affects everyone. Very emotional.

SG was sole individual responsible. Investigation ongoing, will go to DA's office.

Spoke to numerous individuals, allegations that they couldn't substantiate. Started by only looking at facts – unbiased, no speculation.

Questions:

No motive.

Murder charge – DA will determine level.

Taken into custody at 12:15 this morning following interview.

Can't give specific info on her state of mind. Not addressing medical/mental issues. LE's job was to look at facts.

Looked closely at timeframe – couldn't connect different times until now.

Comments from SG and detective interview are confidential.

More stable yesterday than earlier. More coherent, responsive. Before was “unsure” due to her physical condition. Much emphasis on her physical, mental state when found - took a couple of days.

Claims of assault and abduction – couldn't substantiate at all. Individuals she named could not have been at the location during that time.

Was slow, methodical investigation. Info from facts, family and public information.

Number one priority was finding child. Started as rescue operation.

Doesn't know SG's current state of mind. Wasn't involved in any interrogations.

No criminal record, no info about whether CPS is now involved, haven't contacted them.

ADA will determine which murder charge. Investigation ongoing.

Process of elimination says no one else was involved. Feels she was only one involved in Justice's death.

Had 8 detectives on case, daily debriefings. Hundreds of hours.

Can't reveal lots of the information.
