Thanks for an excellent summary!

Around 1:20 in the interview the reporter asks if FR can use a defense of saying none of the meth or ammo found in the house was his. The expert responds with "...the law says more than one person can possess something, so just because for example, another person in the house possessed it as well doesn't necessarily mean he didn't also possess it."

So Frank's attempt to distance himself from the drugs and ammo may not fly with the law. I agree with tlcya that he's trying to push it off onto SG. Don't get me wrong, she's the main player here but still, that doesn't mean it was okay for Justice's dad to have meth and ammo in the house, especially since he has other little kids living there.

Grr.

Because the house is apparently that of The senior Rees parents I assumed the warrant was needed to examine/search the home for evidence against either mom or dad. The Elder Rees couple could give LE rights to search the common and their own areas but not those areas that were considered the private space of FR or SG. Right?

Frank is on probation so they do not need a search warrant to have his living areas searched (which were also SG's). They would need a search warrant (or the parents consent) to search the rest of the house. Considering how the grandparents keep bailing Frank out and defending him and Sam, perhaps the police did not want to take the chance of asking and being turned down.

Four children in the Woodland home where baby Justice briefly lived were removed by child protection on Saturday, three sources close to the family confirmed.

I don't usually like hearing about kids being taken from their homes. But I feel this is a positive move. I have to wonder about the grandparents common sense and their ability to care for these 4 other kids. They signed a deal with CPS as the 'SAFETY PLAN' providers for the child that is now deceased.

And it really bothered me when I thought about their lack of common sense in that tragedy. The young mother, just healing from a caesarian, newly sober and fragile from meth addiction, is allowed/expected to take a very young infant, also recovering from meth in his system, to go to the school to pick up four other kids. WHY the heck would the grandparents allow a fragile 2 week old baby around a schoolyard full of germy kids? That little newborn should have been home tucked in his crib. And why would the recovering addict be responsible for picking up 4 kids, in the fragile state she was in?

That whole thing made me doubt their ability to properly care for the 4 kids in their home. :tsktsk:

ITA. We need a "super thanks" button for your comment, lol!

And where the heck was Frank during this time? Why couldn't he pick up the kids? There's been zero reference to his having a job of any kind in msm. So grandparents and dad all thought it was okay for SG to be responsible for these kids while they were ... doing what?

Where's the common sense?

With the rate parents are killing their kids, and the deaths from drug use, we won't have to worry about population control.

What a sad thought that a child is born into this crap of a life, to only have it ended 20 days later. I just don't understand it. Why didn't she get an abortion? Why allow the baby to grow for 40 weeks inside your body, and then kill a bit over 2 weeks later?? Senseless! Little baby Justice was never asked if he wanted to be born, and he didn't get to choose his crapola parents! NOONE had the right to take his innocent life!!!

Meth seems to be the plague of the century. Never thought I would hear about it in my county, but it's here now. Little 2yr old boy was murdered while his parents cooked meth. Is mental illness the reason they are looking for that high? Is it the lack of good paying jobs without a college degree? The quick dollar to be made? WHY? What is the culprit of this evil drug? Why would anyone want to get high on a drug that can kill? I know depression well, and yeah, being up is much more enjoyable than being depressed, but at what expense? Is it the lack of morals we're teaching kids? The lack of responsibility? The lack of respect for themselves, their neighbors, other's property, human life...is that the problem???

I don't know, but by gosh I wish I did and could eliminate the reasons people are wanting these dangerous drugs!!!

I just finished this book a week or so ago. It's not for the faint of heart, but it will give you some insight 2Hope.

Clea Myers, a young English woman, comes to America to live the dream but experiences the nightmare. She goes from an Ivy League College to Los Angeles Women's Penitentiary in 3 years, emaciated and addicted to crystal meth. How could things go so wrong and in such a short space of time? Myers shares her descent into the hell of crystal methamphetamine dependence. Her story is of An English girl from a privileged background whose addiction journey brings her from an Ivy League College to Los Angeles Women’s Penitentiary in only three years, emaciated and addicted to crystal meth. Myers’ description of her rapid demise is a sometimes uncomfortable read, as she holds nothing back.

Mom not charged with murder? Because? She was high on meth and "ooops" killed her baby? Didn't realize he could drown/freeze because? She was so high?

I'm close, real close, to giving up on the justice system in this country....

Why are people blaming dad....a real loser.....more than mom for the death of this baby? She left him to freeze/drown....she decided to get high....I don't get it. Or, maybe I do. Women are given a pass. Men are monsters, creepy, evil. So many have tales of woe concerning men in their lives. But, to find comradery with a baby killer? ( not necessarily talking about WS posters....look at comments under news stories )

When I watched the news the other day, they said or implied the search warrant was related to the death of baby Justice.... not sure, but LE had plenty of justification for searching the house whether or not they claimed it was about something Frank did. I'm surprised it hadn't been searched earlier though, but LE does seem to be doing a great job on this case(s). I am happy to hear the children were removed, but this is all so sad for them also. Can't believe FR was posting on FB the day they were removed, getting more sympathy. :( I'm not sure he's going to turn on SG because she may still be withholding info from LE that may implicate FR or someone else in the whole meth buying/taking business and the death. IDK.

I don't think anyone here at WS is blaming dad more than SG. But yes, I've seen the comments in msm and FB so I get what you're saying.

In MOO I think many of us are frustrated that SG's charges are for involuntary manslaughter instead of murder. What's been explained so far in msm is that right now there's not enough clear evidence that SG acted maliciously. Personally I'm still confused as to why she wasn't at least charged with felony murder since the child endangerment charge is a felony.

Still, it's LE's job to nab the criminal and it's the prosecutor's job to put 'em behind bars and like it or not the charges reflect what the DA feels he can get a conviction on. That may change when the rest of the labs come back.

We've seen the mom get under-charged, we've learned that dad was also a meth user and likely supplied SG with drugs and used with her while she was pregnant. The grandparents failed in their duty to follow the safety plan set up by CPS. So IMO some of us are angry and feel that everyone failed their duty to protect Justice.

So I don't think it's really about giving women passes and automatically thinking men are monsters.

There have been many cases where a father/stepfather/boyfriend committed a crime against a child and the mother got off scott free even though it was clear that she could have done something to prevent it. This case is a reverse situation, no more no less. Speaking for myself I get ticked off in all such cases, regardless of gender.

I think the problem is that we don't really know what LE thinks happened, so I can't really say either if she is being undercharged or not. They may increase those charges also. Having said that, she certainly wasn't in this mess alone.

I am not blaming dad more than mom by any means. That said, I do hold him responsible as that baby's father and the father of four other children he apparently was just as happy as his parents to leave in the hands of a mother who CHOSE tho smoke meth, probably WITH him, as a pregnant mother of Justice. I dont blame him more. But I sure blame him plenty. And I am sorry if that is not in line with TOS or the rules of this case. Dad is in jail and charged with crimes. Maybe ot crimes pertaining to Justice's death, but crimes against his children.

If this post must go that is okay and I apologize for ranting. But this case is very upsetting.

I agree 100%. I have stopped posting on here for the most part because I do know what was going and and I do know the facts in this case. But the facts don't paint a pretty picture of the dad and I was told to back off. So I have pretty much stopped posting. In my opinion, Baby Justice is the victim here, not his dad.

DA just changed SG's charge to murder!

Investigators initially booked Green for a murder charge. However, the district attorney said after a further review of the evidence, their office decided to lessen the charge to involuntary manslaughter.

Tuesday, the district attorney filed a motion to change the charge back to murder.

She's due back in court Friday.

There is no word yet on why the changes were filed, but it could be related to the extensive search that was conducted at the home where Green lived with her boyfriend, Frank Rees, and his parents in Woodland.
...
A murder charge will force prosecutors to prove Green acted with malice in the child's death. The charge also carries a punishment of up to life in prison, if convicted.

I wondered if this was coming. Now, I'm really curious too, did they secure more evidence?

Late Tuesday evening, less than a week after Samantha Green, 23, was charged with involuntary manslaughter in three-week-old baby Justice Rees’ death, prosecutors filed a complaint to up to the charge to murder. Deputy District Attorney Ryan Couzens wrote that “the evidence will support the charges reflected.”

A hearing will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday to address the prosecution’s motion. The DA’s Office is not commenting on the case due to a gag order issued Tuesday.

Green also had been charged with abusing or endangering the health of a child, with an enhancement for infliction of great bodily injury upon a child under 5 years old. She pleaded not guilty to all charges and her bail had been set at $250,000.

The Public Defender’s Office, which is representing Green, filed a motion Monday for a change of plea, which will also be addressed Friday.

BBM - has this already been discussed here?

That motion came a day after the attorney for Samantha Lee Green asked for a court hearing Friday morning for a change of plea — an indication that Green likely wants to plead guilty or no contest to the felony involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment counts filed against her last week by the DA’s office.
