From April 4:

Earlier Saturday, at David Douglass park in Woodland, Rees and several other close friends released balloons into the sky for Justice, as well as about a dozen doves.
...
“I know that Samantha loved that baby though. I mean it was her whole world,” Rees said.

And from today:

Rees, 29, pleaded not guilty Monday to possessing methamphetamine, ammunition as a felon and drug paraphernalia stemming from a search of his home last month by Yolo County Sheriff’s deputies. Authorities were searching the home as part of their investigation into Justice’s death.
...
Rees spoke briefly with reporters about Justice’s death after the hearing. Rees said he’s “giving it up to God and trusting the Sheriff’s department to do their job,” and said he is focused on “giving justice to Justice.”

Uhm, yeah, that's a little chilling :(

“I just heard about the DA may be pressing new charges I don’t know,” he said.

The new charges are unrelated to the death of Baby Justice Rees, who was found dead in a slough near Knights Landing. His mother, Samantha Green, faces a murder charge in the infant’s death.

Frank Rees faced unrelated charges of possession of methamphetamine and ammunition, to which he pleaded not guilty. He’s now also facing a new charge of driving without a license.

“I’m stressed out you know,” he said.

Rees was first arrested shortly after Baby Justice’s death on unrelated misdemeanor driving under the influence and driving without a license warrants. He pleaded no contest.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 11.

Does anything listed above account for the charges in Lake County?

I can't tell. I know he was asking for rides on SM so it's possible he went ahead and started driving anyway and got busted. Or maybe LE just got around to executing the warrant. Dunno. Either way they're throwing anything and everything at him.

From older articles (March 2):

Frank Rees was arrested Sunday evening, on unrelated charges. He had three misdemeanor warrants: Driving on a suspended license and having no car title in Yolo County, and a DUI charge from Lake County.

The charges against Frank Rees, 29, were unrelated to the death of the infant. The Yolo County charges are failure to appear for driving with suspended license and violation of promise to appear. Lake County also issued a warrant for Rees on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving with blood alcohol of .08 or higher, driving with suspended license and child endangerment, according to Yolo County sheriff's Capt. Larry .Cecchettini.

Reminder - SG's pre-hearing conference is coming up this Monday, May 11. I think Frank has a hearing on the same day.

I am always careful about picking apart specific words in sentences. I say "I love that kid" about my son to my husband all the time. And I say being a mom "is my whole world." I could easily say "it is the greatest pleasure I have."

Not defending anyone here but I don't think drawing out words and examining them separately means there isn't any attachment. JMO.

I agree ... I say "I love that little girl" under my breathe pretty frequently to my husband. I could see him repeating it exactly like that about me ... "She loved that little girl" because he is so used to hearing it. Althought I am not sure he would never refer to our daughter as an "it" but I can also see how sometimes people get flustered when talking to reporters and such. My husband is not the best public speaker.

Samantha's next hearing is June 2 and Frank's is June 4.

On Monday, wearing a long-sleeved plaid shirt and baggy jeans, Rees sat in the gallery with mother Patricia at his side. He was waiting for his turn before Yolo Superior Court Judge David Rosenberg on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine, ammunition as a felon and drug paraphernalia stemming from a March warrant search by deputies of his Woodland home. Rees is free on bail and will return June 4 for a hearing on the allegations.

“My life has turned upside down the last couple months.... It’s not anything I want anybody to have to experience. It hurts” Rees said outside the courthouse after his brief hearing, his mother at his side, before reiterating his support for Green. “People don’t understand it. They think that because it’s in the news, that’s what it is. I love her very much. Until I know there’s foul play involved, I’m going to support her.”

So Frank's life has turned upside down. I'm sorry to hear that, Frank. It's all about you and Samantha. I wonder if Justice's world "turned upside down" in the final hours of his short life.

I also wonder if either of these people have given even one minute's thought to how their choice of meth over their baby's well-being landed them in this situation. Somehow I doubt it.

Thanks for using quotes when referring to the "mother" I hope this ish is not delayed any further, but knowing our lovely justice system, esp Yolo County, I think we will be waiting a while.

I've been scouring the news - nothing. Her hearing was 8:30 am, so two hours ago. The gag order is still on but we should hear something about this morning's hearing today. I hope.
