Agh it's super laggy for me. But the giant missing poster makes me think there won't be too much in the way of updates imo

Still nothing new? I suspect it might be possible that some of her friends know what happened to her.

Usually with this big of a search though? And in a pretty specific area? It’s possible she got farther than believed though, and her car is beyond the search area.
Yup, usually when people get lost in the wilderness, eventually their car is discovered nearby in a national park parking lot, or trail staging area or logging road nearby, etc.

As her car hasn't been discovered yet, it's either in water, buried deep in the trees or, like you say, outside of the search area.

Been away from computer and home all day. Saw something about boats and divers going out near the boat ramp. Found an old photo from May 2018 which was a higher water year, of a picture of one of my motorcycles when I was tooling around. In the background you can see the boat ramp.

Because of the drought the last few years, the ramp ends and there is sometimes quite a bit of dirt to go over before arriving at the waters edge. I have NOT been over there this year so I cannot say what the water line looks like. Anyhow, just a visual context for folks.
Thanks for this visual. At night, if you turned onto that short roadway, would it be quickly and readily apparent upon approach that you were heading into a body of water? Or does the darkness mask it from being clearly visible, and easy enough to accidentally drive into water?

If this ends up being the case then people need held responsible for the underage drinking that went on. It would also make sense as to why no one is talking because they're afraid of the underage drinking & getting into trouble cause you can't tell me that not one person out of the 300 didn't see her drive into the lake. I bet you if that is what happened that those underage drinkers scattered out of there real quick and are afraid to talk in fear of getting in trouble.
Somebody purchased the alcohol…who??? Had to be an adult!

. I'll
How common are license plate readers in CA? In Illinois they have recently started to use them. LE has caught quite a number of criminals. If there were people at the party from the outside of the immediate area (Bay, etc.), they may have passed one on the way to Prosser and on their way back home. My suspicion is that Kiely's disappearance is not linked to "locals" at the party.

Do we have any idea how all of these out of area party goers learned of this party? I suspect social media of some type. I also question how it grew to over 200 people. How did all of the "older" party goers get word? It sounded like this bonfire was normally for local teens and young adults saying their good byes at the end of summer.

Very common in Truckee as well as in Western Nevada County were I live. They are very successful and are always capturing stolen cars.

It's so overwhelmingly likely that I almost feel like yelling. There is almost no chance this is an abduction. I fully expect her car (and her) to be found in the next few days.

If not sooner.
@MassGuy - I always equate you with pointing out Occam's Razor, as you've mentioned it on so many threads in the past. Life usually isn't a Lifetime Movie plot. Occasionally, yes, but often it's the obvious.

Is this the first official press conference?

IMO, it is just the words they chose to use and we shouldn’t read too much into them. They are calling her and it is going to voicemail and they aren’t able to track her via “find my” apps (both reported in MSM articles). This same result can come from the phone being manually powered off, the battery dying, being in an area with zero service (if there was any service it would likely ping at some point and show on the find my apps), or being damaged to the point of being inoperable. I don’t think there is any way for them to know which one of these is occurring until they retrieve the phone or service is restored.

Thank you...this answer says a lot. So it could just be one of those things and possibly nothing nefarious was going on...I think it's also framing....If I read the phone was turned of I "see" her or somebody else pushing a button. I guess lots of us do, but I could be wrong.

Upthread, a local said that if she had driven the wrong direction out of the campground that the road led to a boat ramp or dock, into the water. Does anyone know if that is where the dive team is searching?

Just looked at the map. Yes, this is exactly true. Left out of the camp leads DIRECTLY down the boat ramp. This is the most likely scenario IMO.

thats crazy, we went to the beach in santa cruz co the day that fire started. there was an electrical storm the night before i think.
Yes, the CZU fires in Santa Cruz County (caused by lightning) were burning at the same time as the Dolan fire in Big Sur (arson).

Things were a bit smokey around here, per usual.

Alcohol impairs night vision for a lot of people, that could be a factor.

<modsnip - no link from an approved source to statement made as fact> Where can I find the different statements from her friend? I'm sure everyone was pretty drunk/faded by that point in the night unfortunately which does not make establishing a timeline any easier.

So far a plea from Smith for anyone to come forward. She will be interviewing people "teen to teen" this evening. No adults around so no pressure.
