He was apparently killed along with 4 others when his private helicopter crashed after catching on fire and spiraling out of control. Always shocking to see a celebrity's name in a tragedy. So sad for him, his family and the 4 others on board.

Ironically, Lebron James just passed Kobe's scoring record in last night's game against the Philadelphia 76'ers. And Kobe recently commented.

My son just came into to tell me. He has so many of Kobe’s old BB cards. He treasures those rookie cards. Tragic. He was only 41. All I’m hearing is that five were killed.

What? Haven't heard that, only that the 4 others are still not being named. I hope that's not true.

ETA Seeing twitter reporters stating his daughters were with him. I feel sick.
