This was one of the trials that I watched as much as I could and I would leave the room (others were watching) when she was on, she made me that sick.
She is the Mother that I Hate with a passion. Yes I said Hate. If I don't like something I pretty much Hate it.

I will never understand how any mother can defend a guilty child. Never. Don't waste time.

I do not like jp.

Elley, I am not defending my child, I know she did wrong, however, love makes us do strange things. As a mother who loves my child, but knows she did something terribly wrong, I just am blown away by your statement. I don't defend my daughter's actions, rather I look to my own failings as a parent as to why she has done what she has done. Maybe Jackie felt the same as I. Not that I am defending her actions by any stretch of the imagination.

Its one issue to forgive your child for their faults and bad decisions they make that hurt themselves mostly. I have done that with one of my own. He had a drug problem and after a few years he straightened up and went to rehab. I forgive him and know he was messed up. He acknowledges that. But the difference, I think, is with parents who have children who are evil and hurt (physically) other innocent people for no other reason than selfishness...and yet the parents defend their evil child as if they are innocent or have a right to do as they please. My family member has a tender heart but if he had murdered someone I couldn't defend him. JMO.

This has been confirmed by the family, as I didn't find much about her recent death- at least up until yesterday: a blog post on www.scottpetersonappeal.org/cblog

"We are deeply saddened that our beloved Jacqueline Peterson has passed away. She died peacefully at home on October 3, 2013. Jackie lived her entire life with chronic lung issues and that is ultimately what took her life. The daily routine to maintain her health was not an easy one and yet you would never hear her complain. She was thoughtful, cheerful and compassionate. She showed us all how to forgive and be thankful. We miss her terribly, but we are comforted knowing that she is at perfect peace."

This is the case that brought me to Websleuths. I still think of Laci and Conner daily. I ran across this today:

"Modesto’s Scott Peterson killed family out of selfishness, prosecutors say in appeal response"

Read more here: http://www.modbee.com/news/local/article8540912.html#storylink=cpy
There is a PDF attached to the article that is the prosecutions's response to CMSP's Appeal Brief (it is over 500 pages!!) I haven't read it yet, but I am anxious to dig into it.

Fox News is doing a show on killer Scott tonight (Sunday, March 22 2015). They are going to interview Amber and show Scott's "cushy" lifestyle in prison.

This case still haunts me. I just think of Laci in the moment she realized that the man she loved and slept with and was having a baby with was going to take her life and their baby's life.
It is more than horrific.
She was a beautiful lady and was about to have a beautiful baby.

I think about Sharon and her family and just can not imagine the horror this man brought into their life.
I wish that people like this would fade into oblivion.

I think alot of people thought Scott smothered Laci on the bed but I always wondered if he could have been cold hearted enough to attached his man-made concrete weights to her and dropped her in the bay while she was still alive. I hope I am wrong that she didn't die that way.

I read somewhere that Scott keeps a picture of Laci in his cell by his bed. What a fool his is to still claim he didn't kill her. He could have just filed for divorce and paid his child support like everyone else does when they get a divorce.

I don't know why I came to this forum on SP but I am afraid I am the lone voice of not sure on here. I was never convinced SP killed his wife and son. The live in boyfriend Sharon had also went fishing on Christmas Eve. Laci had filed for an order of protection against him a few years earlier. The prosecution didn't prove SP made more than one weight to anchor the boat with. And the ridiculous magic dog that followed a scent 90 miles on the freeway should never have been allowed in evidence. It was never allowed before or since, so that tells it's own story. I feel so bad for Laci and the baby and want her killer punished, but I am so afraid they got the wrong man. SP had an affair, that doesn't make him a killer. I want to know why Laci felt she had to get an order of protection against Sharon's Live in boyfriend. This was never discussed by the prosecution, and all the media could talk about was SP going fishing on Christmas Eve. My own husband often went hunting or fishing on Christmas Eve with the boys to stay out of the way of the women cooking and wrapping packages, but the media acted like it was a criminal offense and not a legit albi. But remember, Sharon's husband also went fishing. Poor Laci could have been thrown in a river or creek and was washed out to sea. That would explain why it took so long for the body to surface. I don't want to upset anyone, I just want the real killer behind bars.

Not gonna retry all the evidence, but rest assured, the real killer is behind bars. His affair was the motive for killing her. He wanted sex, not fatherhood. Scott also changed his alibi from fishing to golfing (so it wasn't a legit alibi), had the wrong kind of bait for what he claimed to be fishing for- just happened to be "fishing" in the very same marina her body and the fetus turned up in, he rented a car and checked up on the search. Besides, noone else was at the marina fishing when Scott claimed he was- it's not a popular time to go to the Berkeley Marina, it's very cold. Sharon's husband/boyfriend are irrelevant to this case, neither one of them did it. Scott did!!!
P.S. There's no river or creek nearby that would have led to her body being discovered where it was. I live in the Bay Area. He dumped her near the Richmond/San Rafael Bridge off of Brooks Island.

And here we are 10 years later from when this thread was started...

I posted this on the thread in the Parking Lot and didn't know we had this one! So here's what I posted on August, 2015:

well.... another extension granted:

PEOPLE v. PETERSON (SCOTT LEE)
Case: S132449, Supreme Court of California

Date (YYYY-MM-DD): 2015-06-11
Event Description: Extension of time granted

Notes: The application of appellant for relief from default for the failure to timely file appellant's request for extension of time is granted.

Good cause appearing, and based upon counsel Cliff Gardner's representation that the appellant's reply brief is anticipated to be filed by July 27, 2015, counsel's request for an extension of time in which to file that brief is granted to July 27, 2015. After that date, no further extension is contemplated.

re bold - does that mean NO MORE extensions will be "allowed" or ??

My question still stands? Anyone know?? TIA! :D

I can't believe it's been 10 years since Scott arrived at San Quentin. My uncle worked there when Scott arrived. He died unexpectedly at home in November 2005.

I'm not sure what you're asking. It sounds like the extension is about some kind of brief. Was the brief filed before the July 27, 2015 deadline?

I'm not sure - that's the last update I have from the "appeal" site for Scott...

http://www.crimeonline.com/2017/06/...petersons-true-motive-and-crimecon-exclusive/

“Most people have said that Scott just wanted to get away from the marriage, but the murder of Laci Peterson was all about the [unborn] baby,” Jones told Crime Online.

Jones explained that in her opinion, Peterson is, was and will always be a classic example of a sociopath. He was also considered the “golden boy” of his family, who, in the eyes of his parents, could do no wrong. Since birth, Peterson was doted upon and placed on a pedestal, but with a new baby on the way, the attention would no longer be focused on Peterson, at least not in the way he was comfortably accustomed to. The excessive attention coupled with Scott’s narcissistic and sociopathic traits created a ticking time bomb that exploded when he saw that he would no longer be top priority when his son, baby Connor, arrived.

This doesn't sound good. I have a feeling Scott Peterson will once again be in the news over this juror Strawberry Shortcake. BLAH. I remember this case so vividly.
