Does she live with family or does she walk away from a facility? It seems she gets out quite a bit. There are things that can be done around her home to prevent her getting out.

My father in law had Alzheimer's and got out twice. His caseworker told us to put several locks on the door. They will try the first one or two then get distracted and forget they wanted to go outside.

Another trick was to put a black mat or carpet in front of the door. Their brains won't process it as a mat, but as a void, a black hole and they won't step on to it.

When they do get out, they will travel in the direction of whatever hand they are dominant in. Left handlers will head left, right handlers will head right. They will also go towards peoples voices, so if they is a park or school nearby, they will head in that direction. They also gravitate towards water, so any water close by should be checked.

I don't have a link for this, this is all from my own personal experience dealing with and taking care of my father in law. FWIW.

Oh no. Why don't they put this dear lady in a home for dementia patients? This is so worrisome, how often she takes off.
Oh, I just reported that she was located safe, and now she is gone again? Oh dear! I hope they find her quickly. It would be good to know where she has ended up the previous times so searchers can detect a pattern and find her easier and faster. Then, as you say, take measures to ensure she doesn't run out into the big world like this again.
