GUILTY CA - Lana Clarkson, 40, fatally shot, Alhambra, 3 Feb 2003

And did you notice that his hand was not shaking at all when he was "pointing the gun" finger? Totally at odds with all the handshaking he's had going on while sitting at the table.

Yeah, but I didn't even think about that until it was mentioned later. Good eye for detail you've got!!

I used to respect Dr. Baden too, especially when compared to Cyril Wecht and Henry Lee. Now I see that he's just another hired mouth who will render his "opinion" based on the size of his check. Disgusting. :banghead:

If I were the defense attorney and had to choose between Dr. Baden being an expert and Linda Kenny being an attorney for me, I'd choose Dr. Baden any day. However, its the fact that he IS such an incredible medical examiner and the fact that he WAS present at the autopsy that makes it so hard for me to believe that he didn't pick up on the fact that her lungs were so heavy. I'm not a medical expert by any stretch of the imagination, but isn't that M.E. 101??? I mean you're at the autopsy and they weigh every organ. When the weight of the lungs was said aloud in the room that instant, wouldn't that be like an alarm bell going on in the minds of these experts if it was SOOOOOOO unusual??? Even in the ensuing four and one-half years, not one of the four very intelligent, very experienced, very expensive medical examiners working for the defense even considers this??? How is that even possible? Like I said, even if we assume that all of this is above board, even giving the appearance of impropriety could seal the deal for Spector and open up the floodgates of possible appeals arguments all at the same time.
I totally agree ~ he was there at the autopsy as Dr. Pena was performing it, weighing the organs and should've known then all the facts. It's not like he's just come on the case, read through some paperwork and come to a conclusion. I just don't understand it especially since the other experts didn't notice anything to lead to this conclusion either. And the idea of her spinal cord breaking during transport is ridiculous, imo. :liar:

Maybe Dr. Baden is a procrastinator and performs best under pressure at the last minute.

Could be!!! LOL Although I'm glad that the last minute was only 4 and a half years after the autopsy and not five years. After all, in six months time, the last minute would have been too late! :)

That just might be it!!! And of course his memory is much fresher about what he witnessed in the autopsy suite now than it was over 4 yrs. ago!

Oh yeah Panthera, no doubt thru some PJ Bedside chats with Linda! A jammy party so to say maybe! Together, those two have made quite a bundle.

 No notes, nuthin, but wait, he read DM and Spitz's reports! Then his big AHA! He couldn't even take the time to look at the slides. I loved it when that testimony/phoney was stricken from the record.

IMO he is out for the money. I haven't had any respect for Baden ever since he testified in the trial, 'the senoir's movie night out' or whatever it was called. He testified poor Mr. Rosenberg died of an aneuryism, which just coincidentally happened at the exact time Seymour Schuss happened to have beaten the poor guy down to the ground causing a fractured skull and other mega brain injuries. Really now!

On a lighter note, I'm trying to forget I am watching this trial. It is going on forever!

It's becoming a 3 ring circus! And whatever happened to the D who was going to rest?

Not done with Baden yet.
We may be hearing from Pie, Jennifer Hayes-Riedl, Spitz, and the paramedic Stark, and TA DA, maybe Leslie Abramson. By the way, she looked terrible when she was in court during the hoopla over the lost evidence Maybe there are more and maybe this will change by Tuesday. Heck even HL might be called, tho I doubt it very much, but with D, who knows huh? :D

JUSTICE for LANA!

THe bigger they are the harder they fall.

I've seen them fall - Lee, Baden, Wecht.

It's human nature. They don't start out their careers being liars for hire, however, once they get the notoriety and become "famous" giving their time to television shows, even gettig paid as pundents, their egos get out of control. They get addicted to the high profile cases and the attention and money they get. Even if you get a known murderer acquitted, you still get your own TV show and your mug on the camera weekly so OF COURSE, they can subconsciously convice themselves that their theory is correct, even if they've skewed it to get the result they are getting paid to get. They become narcissistic in that respect and I'm happy to see them get knocked off their pedestals.

Never liked Lee or Wecht anyway and Baden needs to go now too.

A little too big for their britches.

Well put. Larry Schiller's book on the OJ trial documents this process brilliantly, IMHO. (I think the book is called An American Tragedy.)

Yes, Nova it does. That was the only "defense" based book I bought about the OJ trial.

Why is this the trial taking so long? It seems like that court is out of session more than it is in session! Personally, I think PS is going to be found guilty.

Okey dokey gang...

Doing some thinking out loud... IF the spine was not fully transected...

When Lana was shot, did her mouth slam shut upon the shot (thus the busted teeth on the recoil?) After being shot, did her head slump downward and to the front right, resting on the jaw, closing the mouth? If so, the mouth wasn't open to spew any last breaths blood. Any spewed blood would have been out of the nose, down the face.

Whatever the direction the head went after the shot, if the "wet diaper" bearing man lifted the head and wiped the face, or turned the head while wiping it, did HE transect the spine due to the motion?

So...IF Lana's heart was still beating, and lungs were still moving while she bled out, could the head motion forced upon her by a diaper bearing fool have transected the spinal cord?

Lana was dead when police arrived. When or how the spine might have gotten transected is another story (upon the shot, during diaper wiping, during travel to the morgue?)

I think it is interesting that Dr. Baden stayed one step ahead when posing the transected spine thing. Oh you better believe that was discussed. You'll notice that he didn't say, "The spine was probably transected when Mr. Spector was mucking with the head and face with that diaper, instead of calling 911."

I dont know if this means anything but my Boss who is also a Funeral Director was telling me that often when the body is moved a strong breath will come out making a sound. That is IF the person died having air in his/her lungs. He said the first time it happened to him~scared the chit out of him! I also remember reading the gun had been wiped down. Now I am sure PS wiped the trigger off.

Wrinkles, I don't know the answer to your question, however, I do love your description of PS...."Diaper bearing fool!" LOL:clap::clap::clap:

I hope he's wearing his Depends when the jury finds him guilty, because you know he's going to chit a brick! LOL:crazy::crazy:

Hey W, looks like :bang: Dr. Baden is going to be toast~as I read where he has been cancelled to appear at a SF DA's seminar. I hope I have it right, this was reported by BK. Whatever, it doesn't look good for him.

I thought DB was going to be on the stand today again, but the D rested, TG!

Exit DB
Enter LKB

I don't doubt she was sick, but I wonder, how sick was she?

Big News is SPROCKET has been vindicated, JF opologized to her! :)

I thought he would when he realized what really happened. Seems there are a few trouble makers about!

Well...

Smirky Face Spector actually had a smile this morning, derisive of course... We have the 5th "bad acts" witness on the stand, she is in the lobby/foyer of the Spector home asking for Spector to unlock the door so she can leave... The prosecution asks her, "Did you have your purse on your arm?" The witness says, "Yes"... SFS thought that was smirkable... Of course, he did... He knew his MO, grab them on their way out the door with their purse on their arm (that which women pick up and take when departing.) Busted, again, woman with a purse on their arm, trying to leave, time to get the old gun and intimidate! SMIRK -- as if that went unnoticed by those watching him from the jury.

SMIRK SPECTOR SMIRK! You are probably turning the guts of the entire jury. Don't think the men don't get it, and the women are surely not missing it!

Today, Tuesday, August 20: my 3rd day at the trial. While it is a truism that one cannot predict what or how a jury will vote and that there is no such thing as a slam dunk, let me just predict that ol' Harv is going if nothas already gone down in flames.
Court adjourned ar 3:30 PM and they tooanotherexit route out of ourt. They walked to the public door, walking past the prosecution and defense tables. All attorneys and client stood as the 17 walked by. Spector looked at each and every face as it walked by him and not one of the jury panel looked back!

Glad to see Ms Baden back with some additional pounds to her small frame, a great new So. California tan and one wonderful new hair color. Oh and btw: No one other than Spector talked with Cutler.

Hi Sherri, better than me trying to remember, a poster at CTTV transcribed JF's opology. Word for Word!

Right after Fidler accepted Spector's statement that he would not be taking the stand, he took up a more pressing matter:

FIDLER: Last week it had been reported to me and an individual was named that they were talking loud enough, that they were expressing opinions. Some of the jurors had indicated that they heard this person and this person was identified to me as the young lady in the white blouse (gesturing towards the gallery) is that correct? She's not the person. So you are not the person I should have been addressing my remarks to. I apologize. You were misidentified to me. You're not the person who was doing it. There was somebody else who has been tentatively ID'd to me and rather than single that person out I will simply reiterate at this point: Whoever's in the audience, keep your opinions to yourself cause if you don't you're gone, it's that simple. Your opinions, you're free to have them but I don't want the jurors to hear them, it's that's simple.

:woohoo:

Kim's Blog is up now! You just have to love her, especially when you have missed a day or so. She is still saving me! :)

You were there? Great! Tell us about the trouble makers.

Ok they didn't look back, but when walking past, did they ignore him? I think if I was a juror, I would ignore the defendant, any defendant too.

Linda must have had a balcony.
