''In December 1994, the body of a Baby John Doe was discovered in the Las Lomas area of Monterey County, California. A man who was collecting aluminum cans on the side of Garin Road made the discovery when he picked up a paper grocery bag and found the infant inside, wrapped in a blanket. It was determined that the child’s body had been left on the roadside several weeks prior. An autopsy revealed that the infant was born alive and was likely several days old at the time of his death.

The infant became known as “Baby Garin,” named for the road on which his body was discovered. For years, investigators were unable to determine the identity of the child. In an effort to finally identify the infant and the person responsible for his death, the Monterey County Cold Cask Task Force team with Othram to determine if advanced DNA testing could help to resolve the decades-old mystery.''

''Follow-up interviews were conducted and reference DNA samples were collected, leading to the identification of Baby Garin’s mother, 60-year old Pamela Ferreryra. Ferreryra, a resident of Watsonville, California, was arrested on October 17, 2024 for the infants’ death.''

''Ferreyra is an in-home health care provider and the mother of multiple children, local station KSBW-TV reported, without saying exactly how many kids she has.''

''Ferreyra was arrested early Thursday morning at her Watsonville home without incident. According to her Facebook page, she works as an in-home healthcare provider.

"Some of them seem to think that they have gotten away with it and are very surprised," said Assistant District Attorney Matt L'Heureux. "Some of them have been waiting for that knock on the door for decades. I couldn't tell you which situation this falls under, but we're happy that this day has come and that we're able to do something about this situation that happened 30 years ago."

Pamela Ferreyra is being held on a $1 million bail. She is expected to be arraigned on a murder charge Friday afternoon''.

A little surprised to see that the DM picked up the story.
''Just two weeks before her arrest, Ferreyra had received an outpouring of support after sharing a post on Facebook marking the death of her other son, saying she 'cries every day' since he died 10 months before aged 32. The circumstances of that death are unclear.''

''Just two weeks before her arrest, Ferreyra shared a post on Facebook over her 'grief' at the death of her son, Nicholas (pictured together), who passed away last year aged 32 ''
'It's hard. I'm fresh into this journey. I cry almost everyday. Some days I feel hope, peace, love and happiness. Grief is tangled into every aspect of my life,' she wrote. 'Some days I cry just because I saw a picture or video of Nicholas.'
'I wish this wasn't true. I wish it wasn't him. But the truth of real grief is your choices are limited. Grow and move forward, or stop & let it slowly ruin and kill you and everyone around you.''

This is such a tragic case. I estimate she would have been 30 when she had baby "Garin," so she wasn't really young. And her son that passed-away last year would have been preschool-age when Garin was born, right?
I wonder if she hid the pregnancy from family/friends or what the circumstances were.

I am always wondering what drives an apparently happily married mom to conceal a pregnancy and kill the newborn. Onset of some mental illness? I mean, some women may have had abusive partners, gotten pregnant from an affair, were overwhelmed with too many kids (and birth control or early abortion were not available or no option) but that does not seem to have been the case here.

If only she'd left him at a hospital, or somewhere where he could've been found alive ☹️

A different father from the rest of the kids? speculation, imo.

Unless it is for some reason obvious the baby is not the husbands, it was long before reliable DNA testing, it was also no good reason to conceal an affair pregnancy. They had bloodgroup paternity tests but they were not super reliable. Many people found out in recent years their bio fathers were not who they were told.

I wish we knew her motivation. Maybe she acted out of some stress situation but there is no indication that she went through a marriage crisis or had too many pregnancies too closely together. I hope we will eventually find out. Because understanding the psychology behind infanticide and concealed/denied pregnancy in seemingly stable circumstances can help prevent future cases.

Exactly. She could have easily planned to leave him in a place he'd be found alive.
