I submitted Gregory Eugene Thompson as a possible match.

He went missing a few months before this John Doe was found. Gregory was last seen wearing a blue coat and blue hammerpants. This John Doe was found wearing a blue jacket and blue slacks. The height is off, but better to compare and exclude then wonder..
