I can't find any news articles or family's pleas for his return, which is so sad and alarming to me.

A San Anselmo man arrested on attempted murder allegations in Muir Beach was arraigned on a lesser assault charge Tuesday.

Louis Charles Ernst, 24, remains in custody at the Marin County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail. He returns to court Friday to enter a plea and set further proceedings.

The alleged incident was reported on Sunday, when Ernst was picnicking with a relative at Muir Beach. The victim fled when Ernst suddenly became “agitated” and started choking her, authorities said.

“He said, ‘Stop fighting it’ll be easier for you,'” according to court filings. “The victim said she felt her life fading when the defendant was choking her.”

Judge James Chou signed a protective order barring Ernst from contacting the victim and left his bail amount at $500,000.

The judge delayed a decision on whether to order Ernst to relinquish two guns he had purchased recently, according to court records.

He had a DUI in 2017, also.
