Search for Missing Fort Bragg Man Begins Again This Morning – Redheaded Blackbelt

•77 yr old male
•home is at 31000 block of Little Valley Road, Fort Bragg
•was last contacted on 05/14/2020
•Jackson was known to walk in the wooded areas around his home and was very reclusive.
•After not returning calls and not being home for charity meal pick ups on two occasions, he was reported missing to the Sheriff’s Office on 05/21/2020.
•SAR was activated and a search was scheduled.
•A total of 18 SAR volunteers and staff searched Jackson’s property and the surrounding area. K-9’s, ATV’s, ground personnel and UAV’s were deployed and searched throughout the day but were unable to locate him

A request for mutual aide was sent to surrounding counties for assistance with further search efforts to continue [today], 05/25/2020.

Mendocino Search & Rescue and the MCSO are conducting a major search operation northeast of Fort Bragg looking for Luther Jackson, 77, of Fort Bragg.

People are asked to avoid the area of Little Valley Road near Fort Bragg, specifically the 31500 block, as heavy traffic is interfering with the search operation.

Synopsis:
On 05-21-2020 at approximately 1:30 P.M., Deputies with the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a welfare check at a residence in the 31500 block of Little Valley Road in Fort Bragg, California.

The reporting party was an employee of the Fort Bragg Senior Center, who normally visits the resident multiple times each week to deliver meals.

A report was taken for Jackson being a missing person, and Patrol Deputies continued to search for Jackson.

Jackson is described as
•a 77-year-old white male
•around 5 feet 9 inches tall, 175 lbs
•blond / gray hair and blue eyes
•unknown what clothing Jackson was wearing when he went missing.

Memorial Day search and rescue operation underway for missing elderly Fort Bragg Man

The reporting party was an employee of the Fort Bragg Senior Center, who normally visits resident, Luther Jackson, multiple times each week to deliver meals, officials said. Deputies responded to the residence, but were unable to locate Jackson, according to the MCSO.

Missing 77-Year-Old May Have Been Working on a Secret Cannabis Garden, Says Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office – Redheaded Blackbelt

Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office’s Public Information Officer Greg Van Patten provided insight into the circumstances surrounding the elderly man’s disappearance.

Van Patten explained that MCSO was provided information that recently Jackson had told a friend that he had found “an old abandoned grow site” in the woods near his home. He expressed to his friend that he was going to restore it.

MCSO’s efforts are focused on locating that abandoned grow site, said Van Patten. MCSO was told Jackson had to “fashion a bridge to get across a creek” to get to the grow site. Jackson also mentioned to his friend there were some “rare, protected” trees adjacent to the grow site. Van Patten said MCSO have focused their search efforts on areas that include the aforementioned spatial cues. MCSO is even consulting with local timber companies to identify areas with protected timber, explained Van Patten.

Also noticed as I scrolled through their fb page, there are several wildfires in which the area is having to manage.
