There's usually a non-compete clause in the pharmaceutical industry. Not sure how enforceable they are but I know they exist.

Non-compete clauses in employment contracts for California employees are generally not enforceable.

I agree. They just can't take a chance on reopening this campground. Also speaking of staff I wonder who they are.

There's the CPS staff - rangers, admin, groundskeepers, maintenance, program directors, etc. Then there's a revolving group of people - biologists, botanists, soil scientists, environmental scientists, GIS specialists, archaeologists, grad students and fellows in all of the above - who spend varying amounts of time at the park as their work requires.

I've explained before in this thread that there are two house-type buildings just adjacent to the campground which are used by these workers - you can see one of them just behind the fence at Campsite 39 here. The other is just out of sight behind the trees. To the right of the house, you go up a slight hill and there's a maintenance yard with garage buildings and equipment.

I know that they do - or used to - in one of them. From what I was told, it sounded more temporary than permanent and it was for known people with an established reason (field studies, etc) to be in the park. The other one looked empty or possibly used for functions/events.

I have known of people going to Yellowstone to work. They took mobile trailer homes that they lived in. No pay but free campsites.
Coming off the Mollie Tibbetts site where the farm owners provided a home for their workers I wondered if this was similiar.

I meant well. Somebody walked up to a tent in the middle of the night and shot a sleeping man in the head! Not many can do something like that!
Perhaps I should have called the shooter fearless!

I didn't read that he was shot in the head, the bullet hit his upper torso. Saying it was 'in the head' implies the shooter knew what he was doing. I think it was just fluke he didn't hit one of the childen.

The reason we call these kinds of people 'cold blooded' is because they are more like reptiles than humans. The only emotions displayed by reptiles are fear and aggression.

Thanks! Shoddy writing/reporting -- the article states "He was shot in the chest while asleep in the tent". Per the links posted by Cardinal47 above, Tristan was shot in the head. Also, I don't think it's known that he was actually asleep at the time.

Investigation mounts as another dead body is discovered in the area

Calabasas City Manager Gary Lysik visited the crime scene and confirmed that it lies within the city limits, on parkland owned by the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy.

“(Lost Hills Sheriff’s Capt. Josh Thai) informed me of the situation and I started asking some questions,” Lysik said. “There was absolutely no evidence of any wrongdoing, no weapons found, anything. They’re not calling this a homicide,” Lysik said.
