San Mateo County Sheriff's Office

We need help finding Marc Bajet.

Marc went missing on Halloween night and hasn’t been heard from or seen since. He was last seen at 11:30pm that night, and left his personal belongings at home, including his cell phones and car.

He recently had a change in behavior and lifestyle, which lead family and law enforcement to be concerned for his well being.

If you know Marc Bajet or see him please call Detective Carroll at 650-363-4067

**We are still looking for Marc. Multiple searches for him have been done over many different days with little to no evidence of Marc’s whereabouts. Marc is an avid outdoorsmen. Local and state law enforcement agencies have been notified of his disappearance and were alerted to be on the lookout for Marc. At this point in time, nothing leads us to believe there was any foul play surrounding his disappearance and he is being considered as a voluntarily missing adult.

Portola Valley: Wife says missing man has contacted attorney

Portola Valley resident Marc Bajet, who was the subject of a search by the community and the Sheriff's Office last week when he was reported missing, has contacted his attorney and is "hiding out," his wife told The Almanac on Friday (Nov. 9).

Bajet, 55, is still considered a missing person and his case is not closed, his wife, Lael Bajet, said in a brief interview, adding that she has "no idea" where her husband is.

[...]

Marc Bajet left behind his personal belongings, including his car and cellphones, and was last seen near Corte Madera School on Alpine Road in Portola Valley around 11:30 p.m. Oct. 31, according to his wife.

[...]

She said that her husband had recently quit his jobs and made a trip to Goodwill to donate some belongings before he went missing. "He has two kids and loves them tremendously," she said. "It's highly unusual for him to leave like that."

He has (or had) a good job in IT (He's on Linked). Why quit that in today's economic climate? Midlife crises or mental break I'd say - he has no history or any other legal concerns in his background that I could find in public records.

I am also thinking along the lines of a mid-life crisis or mental health issues and he doesn't want to be found for now. Portola Valley is an extremely wealthy area to live so it is my guess he has the means to knock off for awhile. As for the economic climate, it is quite healthy here in the bay area primarily because of tech, and it is not uncommon for people to quit their job and travel for a year. Perhaps MB was burned out due to his career and financial obligations? I hope, at the very least, he can provide solid proof to his wife that he is ok and just needed a time-out.

Some interesting comments that had to be translated. Sounds like he had something going on before he left for a bit. Let's hope that that was him that posted that message and that he is safe and sound somewhere.
