Not sure what it was in 1980 but the address where she was found is now an office building filled with doctors' offices (including one of my doctors). It was built in 1969.

Marina Del Rey Jane Doe was found 40 years ago today. Her NamUs page is no longer available, hopefully she has been identified.

@Sillybilly Should an admin mark the thread as “identified”?

According to Doe Network her name is Maria Lopez. She has gotten her name back but has yet to return home, she is now listed in NamUs’s Unclaimed section as case number 66431.

Just wondering why it took 20 years to identify her......just curious. And as she has many aliases, how are they so sure Maria Lopez is her real (birth name) She could have given a false name from the beginning and went under that name into the system? Anyone knows how this works? I wonder if they have documents with her birth date f.i.

Found 5/14/1980. She was identified via fingerprints on 3/16/2020.

I'm also not sure why I couldn't find her on this list....

I was wondering that, too. If her fingerprints were already in the system, how did it take them this long to match them?

Just had a look on Namus link and she is still unclaimed it would seem. That is sad.

I think of her every time I go to my doctor who is in that building, like I did this week. She passed away so long ago that maybe her family is no longer alive, either. Or they could be in Mexico (or another country) and not realize that she was identified?
