I don't know how I missed this story until yesterday when I heard of the arrests. This just breaks my heart. What a senseless and unnecessary attack. I hope and pray that Bryan recovers.

Three grown men were harrassed by two unarmed (likely smaller) men and they run away leaving one of their group to be beaten and pummelled on the ground?

I find that to be the saddest element in this story. The criminal element will always exist, but when decent men lose the ability to stand up for themselves (or others) we are truly doomed.

Report: Ramirez '2nd or 3rd Person Detained' in Stow Case

One of the things that's easily to lose sight of in the wake of an arrest in the Bryan Stow case is the old legal axiom "innocent until proven guilty."
Actually, it's more of a rule than an axiom and it's times like these that it's good to remember.
Because right now, Giovanni Ramirez, the suspect arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department in the Bryan Stow attack is currently claiming to have an alibi that places him somewhere other than Dodger Stadium on Opening Day.

Bryan Stow Assault Suspect, Giovanni Ramirez, Identified In Police Lineup

Giovanni Ramirez, one of two suspects in the Dodger Stadium assault on Bryan Stow, was put through a police lineup on Wednesday and successfully identified by at least one witness. Naturally his attorney, Anthony Brocklier believes this is a case of mistaken identification. He spoke about how often witnesses think they're telling the truth, but that doesn't mean they're right. Charges have not yet been filed against Ramirez as the police finalize their case before presenting it to the district attorney's office. In the meantime, Ramirez is being held in jail on a parole hold

Stow Suspect Claims Mistaken Identity

An attorney says the suspect's daughter can testify about her father's location on the day Bryan Stow was attacked
An attorney representing the daughter of the suspect in the Bryan Stow assault said the 10-year-old girl can testify that her father was not at Dodger Stadium on the day of the attack.
Attorney Chip Matthews, who said he is representing the daughter, not Ramirez, met with NBC LA late Tuesday after speaking with Ramirez. He said he can prove Ramirez was never at Dodger stadium the day Stow was attacked.
"He is anxious to take a polygraph exam, adamant that he was not there that day and was not involved in this in any manner," Matthews said.

Yes, those darn t-shirts! These young men likely never would have waged such a savage attack if only they had not been antagonized by those t-shirts!

I guess you're not familiar with California..You can be killed walking down the street depending on what t-shirt youre wearing..The worst being an Oakland Raider t-shirt. You aren't allowed to wear ANY sports t-shirts at school here even at the elementary level. Unfortunately, because of the stupidity of these gangs the only reason Bryan Stowe was picked out of this crowd was because of his t-shirt. If he was wearing a Dodger shirt I's sure he wouldnt be fighting for his life right now.

Is anyone following this? IT is getting quite interesting in that the defense is extremely proactive in proving this man has never even been to Dodger stadium and the suspect has taken 2 lie detector tests with no results revealed at this time.
Additionally, there was a palm print lifted from a mercedes that the main aggressor fell against and LE has not revealed if it matches the suspects. Also, the attacker had a shaved head and the defense is going to show through surveillance tapes taken from other locations that the suspect had long hair on the day of the incident.

The results of the line up have also not been revealed.
The suspect was not charged this week and the defense is taking this as a victory.

The flip side is that the Chief of Police is firmly holding his ground that they have the right man in custody.
He is currently being held on a parole violation and so there would not necessarily be any reason to charge him at this time since he is still in custody. There are grumblings that LE has an explanation as to the difference in hair.

Accused assailant of Giants fan Bryan Stow to remain in jail on weapons charges, not assault
snip
Beck again insisted this week that Ramirez remains the primary suspect, and his department will seek charges against him. Beck's statement came after Ramirez underwent two lie detector tests and witnesses were asked to identify him in a lineup.
Beck refused to release the results of the lineup but said he was satisfied with the outcome.
Ramirez’s attorneys went on the offense Friday, seeking to bolster their case for his innocence. Attorney Anthony Brooklier said the defense would file a motion in Los Angeles Superior Court seeking to preserve a hotel video recorded April 1 that he claims will show his client had hair on his head. Witnesses had described the primary suspect as having a shaved head.
He said a palm print left on a car by one of the suspects will prove Ramirez did not commit the crime.

I would hate to see a child lie for her father...if he is guilty...even if she doesn't know she is lying...

Yeah, I'm following it because 1) I'm local to the victim and also a Giants fan, 2) I grew up in L.A. and went to many Dodger games growing up. Don't have the article handy, but read I think today that Bryan Stow is in a coma, and may have permanent brain damage...

3 new arrests.
The men are Louie Sanchez, 29, and Marvin Norwood, 30, who were taken into custody Thursday morning in raids on two Inland Empire locations. Both are being held on suspicion of committing mayhem and remained in custody Friday morning in lieu of $500,000 bail, according to police records.

A third suspect in the case, Dorene Sanchez, also was arrested Thursday on suspicion of being an accessory after the fact to a felony, police records show. A neighbor and a relative of Norwood’s said Dorene Sanchez, 31, is the sister of Louie Sanchez and either the wife or longtime partner of Norwood. She was taken into custody at the same Rialto home that Louie Sanchez gave authorities as his residence

on another bright note, it was reported today the Stowe knew his last name and was able to give the thumbs up to doctors. These are very exciting improvements.

I heard an interview with Marvin Norwood's cousin. He said Marvin is a bad dude, convicted prior for beating up his previous wife. Broken nose, fractured ribs, black eyes-serious stuff. he said he has been in and out of jail and is a violent man. he also said he has season tickets to the Dodger game. Considering this was opening day, he was quite sure that Norwood was in attendance.

Complaint reveals gruesome details of fan beating

snip
The complaint alleged both men personally inflicted great bodily injury on Stow, "causing him to become comatose due to brain injury and to suffer paralysis." The mayhem count alleged that they "did cut and disable the tongue, and put out an eye and slit (Stow's) nose, ear and lip."
snip
Court records show Norwood was sentenced in 2006 to three years' probation and served 118 days in jail after pleading guilty to one felony count of inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant.
In 2003, Louie Sanchez pleaded guilty to one felony count of inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant, and the following year he pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count of carrying a loaded firearm in a public place.

At another, very different news conference Friday, Beck once again went before the cameras to publicly announce that his department had exonerated Ramirez.

"I want to tell the world Giovanni Ramirez is no longer a suspect in this case," he said

I am thrilled they have made new arrests and I am thrilled with Bryan's progress. I just wanted to make sure this was out there, I think it is important that it's made clear... this man was CLEARED.
