I was listening to a KFI report today and it sounds like Doreen spilled the beans to the Grand Jury. LE was not going to charge these guys until today, but after hearing what Doreen had to say, they were charged and she was not. Sounds like a deal in the making. Eric Leonard suspects that whatever she told the Grand Jury was so compelling and stunning that they charged them immediately. They were also picked out in a line up over the weekend.
The case was broken by what they call the clue coordinator. he avoids the minutia of following up on leads, but puts all the tips and leads together and looks for patterns. Apparently, there were a number of reports about these 2 rowdy guys in that section, follow that up with surveillance tapes and one being a season ticket holder they were able to bring it right down to these dudes. Sounds like solid police work.

Bryan Stow Assault Case: Key Witness Dies From Peanut Allergy..

The Bryan Stow case just got a little crazier as the Los Angeles Times reports that the main witness of Stow's assault, Matthew Lee, is dead. Sources close to the investigation say that Lee, who has an allergy to nuts, died from consuming peanuts in a salad.

Unfortunately, we may now have a second case related to the Stow assault on our hands. The death of Lee does seem highly unusual, and investigators are currently looking into his death in further detail.

Bryan Stow can speak again. And he wants to see his kids.
Stow, the San Francisco Giants fan who was brutally beaten outside of Dodger Stadium on opening night of the season recently uttered his first words since awakening from a medically induced coma.
His family's blog reported that Stow responded audibly and accurately to several questions asked by speech therapists on Wednesday. Stow said his own name and birthdate, he told his sister that he loved her, and when his father held up a picture of Stow's children — 8-year-old Tabitha and 12-year-old Tyler — Stow responded as any father would:

Stow's family recently reported on its website that he is speaking and moving his limbs again.Manley said Tuesday that Stow is "starting to get up but not quite walking." The family requested that the name of Stow's rehab facility not be released, according to Manley. The family released a statement saying, "We feel immense relief today, knowing that Bryan is ready to start the next chapter of his story." Louie Sanchez, 29, and Marvin Norwood, 30, have been charged in the attack, which police describe as the culmination of a string of confrontations they had with randomly selected Giants fans at the stadium during the Los Angeles Dodgers' March 31 home opener.Sanchez and Norwood both have pleaded not guilty to mayhem, assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury, and battery with serious bodily injury in Los Angeles County Superior Court. more at link:http://www.ktvu.com/news/29454016/detail.html

Family and friends of Bryan Stow say the injured Giants fan say he is making progress in his recovery.

Stow was attacked and badly beaten outside Dodger Stadium in Los Angles on March 31st. New images from inside Stow's rehabilitation room in Santa Clara County show photos and signs that line his wall.

The family of the 42-year-old Giants fan said Stow recently wrote the names of his two children. Stow is writing left-handed because that arm is looser.

They're now trying to get the Santa Cruz father to eat more solid food, which he doesn't always want to do.

Longtime friend Danny Simon just visited stow Saturday. He told KTVU he never expected to see him at this point.

"You'll ask him a question, he'll have to think. [But then] there's other times. I told him I was going to Las Vegas and he said 'I want to go' without hesitation. Just looked over instantly and said 'I want to go.'" more at link: http://www.ktvu.com/news/news/stow/nFdXC/

SAN FRANCISCO —
The family of a San Francisco Giants fan beaten nearly to death outside Dodger Stadium says he's been moved to a new rehab facility because he no longer needs constant medical care.
Bryan Stow's family says in a blog post that the 43-year-old former paramedic will undergo aggressive therapy to help him become more independent. He now shares an apartment with two other patients, and they have full-time assistance.
The improvements come nearly a year after the attack in Los Angeles that left him in a coma.
Stow's family says he still needs help moving to and from his chair and getting dressed, and that he suffers from short-term memory loss. The family did not name the new facility.

It is just awful what was done to this man over a stupid sports game. I don't understand all of the violence related to sports. It could be that I'm not into sports, but it seems the most ridiculous reason on the face of the planet to hurt someone to the point of almost dying. His life will never be the same. How many sports-related riots have there been? Ridiculous.

No kidding...what a waste of energy and emotion. I guess some fans are just as attached and loyal to their teams as they would be to their pets or loved ones. And sports can be unfair and subjective, so fans can easily feel "betrayed" by referees, etc. Still doesn't make it sensical or right, though.

I'm glad to hear Brian is on the mend and they caught those responsible, at least.

As he stood next to Bryan Stow's son before the ceremonial first pitch Friday, Giants reliever Jeremy Affeldt worried that the kid might be too nervous. Affeldt surveyed the sellout crowd and leaned in to ask Tyler Stow, 13, if he could handle the pressure.
"I'm ready for this," Tyler said.
"We all are," Affeldt replied.
With that, Tyler whizzed a fastball toward the plate, an act that not only welcomed baseball back to AT&T Park but also provided a lump-in-the-throat milestone in the comeback of the Giants fan beaten into a coma last opening day outside Dodger Stadium.
The Giants had crossed their fingers all winter that Bryan Stow would be there himself. The original plan called for the 43-year-old former paramedic from Santa Cruz to ring in the home opener by dropping the first pitch into catcher Buster Posey's glove.
But rather than risk a step backward in Stow's slow comeback, the Giants got inventive. Stow appeared via video, flanked by his mother, Ann, on the AT&T Park scoreboard.
The mere site of Stow on the big screen dressed in Giants gear generated thunderous applause just before the start of the afternoon game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
After Ann thanked the fans for supporting their family's fight, Bryan Stow raised his right hand to reveal he was holding a pearly white baseball.
With a voice that was strong, if monotone, he spoke directly to Tyler."Here's the ball. Good luck, son."Tyler took it from there, launching into a full windup and zinging a pitch into the glove of third-base coach Tim Flannery. The crowd, which had roared for Willie Mays and Willie McCovey moments earlier, took the ovation to new heights for Tyler's fastball.<snip>Stow's verbal skills are likely to remain limited. The men who attacked him -- two suspects remain in Los Angeles County jail, awaiting trial -- repeatedly and forcefully slammed Stow's forehead into the ground. The frontal lobe of his brain was damaged beyond recovery and had to be partially removed.
Giants CEO Larry Baer said Friday that the team was careful about finding a way to include Stow in the pregame ceremony.
They didn't want to disrupt his treatment or set back his progress. But they wanted him. more at link: http://www.contracostatimes.com/gia...contracostatimes.com-www.contracostatimes.com

One year. Hard to believe it was that long ago as. The family don't give as many updates here is the last one.

"One year later....3/31/12
March 31, 2012

One year ago, our lives were forever changed. Its hard to believe that it has been a year since Bryan was hurt. The emotions we felt when we found out what happened are still with us to this day. Its painful to think back to that day, and the following days, weeks, even months, and think about what we went through emotionally and at times, physically. This literally took our lives and turned them upside down. We have always tried to take as much good from this as we possibly can, but to be honest, at times that is hard to do. Because Bryan still has so far to go, it's easy to get discouraged, feel down and even get angry for what happened to him"

LOS ANGELES —
One of two men charged in a devastating assault on a San Francisco Giants fan outside Dodger Stadium told his own mother that he was involved and expected to "go down" for the attack.
Marvin Norwood was heard making the statement in a videotape played Wednesday during his preliminary hearing. He was talking to his mother by cellphone during an interview with police about the attack on victim Bryan Stow.
"Mom, you good?" Norwood says on the phone borrowed from one of the detectives. "You sure? Hey, I got arrested for that Dodger Stadium thing."
After a brief pause, he adds, "I was involved. I was. To a certain extent I was." more at link:http://www.ktvu.com/news/news/crime-law/alleged-brian-stow-attacker-confessed-mother/nPHWS/

Witnesses in Bryan Stow case recall the sound of an assault

The sound of bone against concrete alerted fans streaming to their cars that something had gone horribly wrong on opening day at Dodger Stadium last year.

The sound of bone against concrete was as sickening as it was loud, reverberating across a parking lot at Dodger Stadium and alerting fans streaming to their cars that something had gone horribly wrong on opening day.
In a Los Angeles courtroom Thursday, two witnesses to the brutal assault on Bryan Stow last year recalled the sound of his skull striking the ground as a particularly chilling moment in a terrifying episode.
"It was a really loud, almost echo-ish," witness Joann Cerda recalled, adding the she was certain Stow was dead. The other, Megan Duffy, said she jumped into her car after hearing "a thud, like someone's head smashing against pavement."
