Mary Amos left her home on December 31, 1968, after an argument with her husband. She was staying in a motel in Bell or Bell Gardens and has not been seen since. Her daughter reported her missing in 1991 upon learning that Mr. Amos had not reported Mary missing.

The fact that she was never reported missing is the biggest red flag, IMO.

Also, how do they know she stayed at a motel? Did anyone get a clerk to vouch for it, or just take the husband's word?

Very strange... hard to understand why no other family members reported her missing and what prompted the daughter to do so when she did?

In 2013, someone informed NamUs about a possible match: Mary Anderson, a woman who committed suicide in a hotel in Seattle, in 1996. They were going to compare their DNA samples.

I've been unable to find anything else. Nothing about the result (positive, negative or not-conlusive) of the DNA test.

Mary Anderson seems unlikely as she was estimated to be age 30-50. In 1996 Mary Amos would have been 64 and, whilst nothing is impossible, that is a big age difference.
