I’m sure the prayer vigil will have high level security, but still worry about the potential for further violence. In reference to @tlcya post - no code of honor exists anymore. They didn’t kill a target, they killed innocent little kids who were bystanders, JMO.

Investigators increased the number of victims to 15 in a mass shooting at a child's birthday party in Stockton. Four people are dead and 11 others are hospitalized after a violent attack that investigators believe was targeted, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office.

What neighbors are saying about the shooting​

Residents who live nearby told KCRA 3's Peyton Headlee that they heard gunshots for what felt like one minute. They also said it sounded like there were multiple people firing. They said they then heard people screaming for ambulances.

KCRA 3's Denzen Cortez, reporting from the west side of Lucile Avenue late Saturday, said police were holding drivers there before letting them through as they continued to gather possible information on a suspect.

The shooting reportedly took place during a party inside the Monkey Space banquet hall at 1943 Lucile Ave. near Thornton Road in northern Stockton. A Dairy Queen and O’Reilly’s Auto Parts store are nearby. Initial reports of the shooting were confused because some people in the hall ran to the Dairy Queen parking lot and a nearby liquor store to hide, residents reported on Facebook.

How are there 100-150 people at a “young” child’s birthday party??
The above clip says 100 people were there but others say 150 attendees and later in the clip says up to 150 people were there.
It’s really odd.
Even very wealthy people don’t have that many people at a child’s party or any party for a child unless it’s a fancy bar mitzvah, quinceañera or something of that nature.
Is someone paying for entertainment and refreshments for 150 people?
In “the hood”?
Obviously they rented a “banquet hall” - but how do they have that many guests?
There are just some really odd things surrounding this gathering.
Does the birthday child receive 75-100+ birthday gifts?
Was the 21 year old who was killed “the target”?

Interested in hearing more details and agreeing with other posters that there is a very strong sense that authorities are HOLDING BACK details about which gangs are involved, possible other components in this horrific massacre that was targeting and exposing children to shocking violence
Hopefully perpetrator(s ) will be caught quickly.

Is this maybe the sort of place where you can have your event in one room or area while other people or other events are happening in the other parts of the space? I see that it CAN be rented exclusively but maybe not all events are exclusive? Kind of like a Chuck E. Cheese kid party?

Good grief. California is becoming the land of "Mad Max" out of some sort of dystopian science fiction movie. Random violence occurs on a routine basis there. And I guess it is so pervasive that society there just ignores it, or lives with it as just part of life in California?

Roscoe Brown said the party was in honor of his brother’s granddaughter, who turned 2 years old and was uninjured. Brown, who works for the city of Stockton’s Office of Violence Prevention, was in Arizona when he learned about the shooting.

Hours after the shooting, the Stockton Police Department arrested five people, including a juvenile, on weapons and gang-related charges. There was no indication that the arrests were connected to the killings at the banquet hall, the sheriff said.

Stockton Mayor Christina Fugazi on Sunday told KCRA 3 the shooting was a result of "group gang violence."

San Joaquin Sheriff Patrick Withrow said on Sunday that firearms were found on the roof of the banquet hall, but it's unclear if that included the weapon used in the shooting. Investigators believe multiple suspects may be involved. It's also believed the shooting began inside and ended outside the banquet hall.

I agree. Asking for public assistance but no details given. To me, this is the police saying "Family, we know you know who did this, YOU have to tell us." But, if that is the case, the police should just come out and say that.

"Gang Violence" in other words, you will probably get retaliation for coming forward. Ain't no one going to remember nothing. Didn't see anything. Didn't hear anything. Don't know anything.

It isn't worth it. Gang retaliation now is swift and severe.

Well if 3 dead children doesn't make someone talk, then I doubt anything will. I can't imagine living a life where just going to a kids birthday party puts my kids at risk. I know risk is everywhere and random violence can happen to anyone, but this wasn't random and I have a feeling most at that party knew who was attending and what they were up to (gang affiliations). This isn't me blaming them, it's me saying how did this just become acceptable for people? Hopefully there will be one that will even call in anonymously.

JMO This was a large event meant to entertain the adults present, despite it being presented as a 6 year old's birthday party.
