GUILTY CA - Matthew Muller for kidnap, rape of 30yo woman, Vallejo, 2015

Yes! And on this Matthew Muller case involving Huskins, I would have appreciated much more detail on the prior fiancé, Andrea was it? As there were some possible or alleged connections relating to one of the early investigators? And also Ms. Huskin’s reports that on I believe two occasions other individuals (besides Mr. Muller) were heard by her or present at the remote cabin where she was held. (I don’t think I am confusing this, but it was a lot of territory covered on those 3 episodes. And I am not well versed on all the nuances of this case.) MOO
*Again - excellent points!! I too, was unsettled (understatement) to discover the lead FBI investigator on the case was a previous girlfriend of Aaron’s, an ex-girlfriend that he worked with at the time of the kidnapping (named Andrea). That whole avenue and possible lead was never investigated. Seemingly completely ignored. David Sesma was the agent involved who should have recused himself from the investigation and never have been anywhere even near Vallejo.

*What about the part where Aaron explains to the police that the kidnappers were going to call his phone. So the Vallejo Police turn AIRPLANE MODE (?!?) on his phone until the next morning when they finally turned it back on. It was at that time they discovered two missed calls, which were both traceable. If the police Would have done the work and traced the calls, they would have obtained the same information that the Dublin Police later uncovered.

The calls made to the victims phone - were traced to within 200 feet Of Matthew Muller’s parents South Lake Tahoe cabin located on Genoa Street. This literally means that the police had the “capability” and relevant info to PREVENT the second rape of the victim. They could have pursued that lead and surrounded the area to begin a search. Probable cause was sufficient. Such police actions have been successfully pursued in other cases by other LE agencies. This is an eye-opener case, with a LOT of
Lingering questions.

From what I recall of this case, Muller played tape recordings while they were both blindfolded to make them think that more individuals were involved. It was part of his ruse. He was the only perp.
Yes, that was I believe one ruse he had used in an attempt to confuse her. And playing European or techno-type music that reminded her of France? I believe though, that at one point she did see other individuals while she was briefly unmasked (ungoggled) and she saw at least one other individual in a mirror at some point? It seemed rather convincing that there was more than one individual involved? MOO

I hope someone tries to learn more about the factors created the monster Matthew Muller. He seems a diabolical psychopath well on his way to becoming a highly skilled serial killer. Did he develop his psychopathy from childhood? Did his experiences in the military play a role? Is that where he learned the tactics for "coercive control"? Exactly how did he come into contact with this couple?

Bad policing means there's also no public review of his crimes, no opportunity to learn how to deal with his type in the future.

Reposting this here for those of us just watching American Nightmare. This case needs even more investigation.
Thanks for reposting - I watched American Nightmare on the weekend and agree that there could be more to this around the connection to the ex girlfriend.

The district attorney's office, following a new lead, worked with the Palo Alto and Mountain View police departments to send all of the evidence back to the crime lab for additional testing. Criminalists found Muller's DNA on straps that he used to bind one of the victims, the district attorney's office said.

What are the new charges against Matthew Muller?

The Santa Clara County district attorney's office alleges that Muller broke into the homes of women in Mountain View and Palo Alto. Muller is suspected of medicating, and then sexually assaulting both women, prosecutors say.

Both attacks happened within weeks of each other in 2009, from September to October, and had gone unsolved.

Investigators did initially identify Muller as a possible suspect in the Palo Alto case. However, detectives said they didn't have enough evidence at the time to charge him.

Muller is scheduled to appear in Santa Clara County court at 1 p.m. Monday.

ABC News / AOL Online December 30, 2024 online article by Emily Shapiro entitled ‘'Gone Girl' kidnapper charged in home invasions from years earlier’:

Of note from the article: the suspect, Matthew Muller, was arraigned in San Jose, California, on Monday. Muller is already serving a 40-year federal prison sentence in Arizona relating to charges from 2015.

Seems the leopards spots caught up to him again? And no disrespect met to the true leopard large cats. And glad these additional charges were laid before statute of limitations might have come into play. MOO

Prosecutors allege Matthew Muller, 47, broke into a woman’s home in Mountain View, California, in September 2009, attacked her, tied her up and made her drink medications. He then told the woman in her 30s that he was going to rape her, but she convinced him not to, prosecutors said. Muller left after recommending the woman get a dog.

''(KRON) — Matthew Muller, the notorious rapist who was convicted of kidnapping Denise Huskins in Vallejo, pleaded guilty on Friday to victimizing more women in the South Bay.

Muller, 47, was featured in a Netflix documentary, “American Nightmare,” that chronicled Huskins’ harrowing experience in 2015 when Muller broke into her home, kidnapped and raped her, and held her for two days inside his South Lake Tahoe cabin.

On Friday, Muller pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting women during a pair of home invasions in Mountain View and Palo Alto 15 years ago. He will face life in prison when he is sentenced on February 21 in the Santa Clara County courthouse.''

“This extremely dangerous person left a trail of traumatized and terrified victims,” Rosen said. “It took the collective courage of his victims and determined law enforcement officers to stop him. This nightmare is over.”

As part of the renewed investigation, Muller also faces kidnapping for ransom charges in Contra Costa County, Rosen said.

"But the main part of the email was saying you have to tell the police that this was real. Like this couple doesn't deserve this. Which is a very strange thing for a kidnapper to say about their victims," Bulwa said

Yeah that really angered me that the Vallejo PD disparaged the victim and led the public to believe that she was the original "Gone Girl'. Why did they refuse to believe her boyfriend, and when Muller WAS captured, they still refused to admit they were wrong and publicly apologize.
