The children's maternal grandmother's surname is Brothwell, so it's likely that Natalie Brothwell is the mother.

Lynn Mullineaux, a friend of the children’s maternal grandmother, Debra Brothwell, spoke out on the family’s behalf. Mullineaux told ABC7 in Los Angeles that Brothwell, who lives out of state, was pushed away over the years. On a GoFundMe page Mullineaux established to help the grandmother go to California to see about her daughter and remaining grandchildren, she wrote that Brothwell was “taken from their lives by a controlling son-in-law.”

Natalie Brothwell's charges are the same as Maurice's. They were just filed on Sep 27/21 while Maurice's charges were filed back on Dec 8/20.

Yes. Truly curious.
Perhaps she first presented as a 'victim', but then LE was able to determine greater involvement on her part.

Holy smokes, it’s a bit of a shock to see the children’s mother charged with first degree murder! I wouldn’t have been as surprised to see the “endangerment” charge relative to the children being starved/neglected (as one would assume that such long-term patterns of behavior had to be facilitated by both parents), but—IMO—the murder charge suggests the mother played an active role in the unspeakably brutal and gruesome murders of two of her own children, which is something I quite frankly had not even considered.

Based on this recent news, she is now 44, which makes her much older than her husband. She definitely wasn't a young teen bride/mother.
Her mother complained that she married a controlling husband, and that might very well be true, but it's also possible that Natalie is a driver in some of this. We just don't know.

Everyone is focused on Gabby. She's a wonderful young life that has been snuffed out. It's definitely sad and terrifying.
But barely anyone cares about these young children. The two older 'preteens' were murdered and decapitated. The two younger kids were massively emotionally abused, starved and forced to look at their murdered siblings.

Where is the public outrage for these children??

Natalie Brothwell, 44, was apprehended at her Tucson home on Tuesday, a day after prosecutors filed charges against her, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. She faces two counts each of murder and felony child endangerment.

Brothwell has been jailed in Pima County, Arizona, pending extradition to California, a sheriff’s news release stated. Her bail was set at $1 million.

There's really no new info about Natalie and her role. I'm guessing we'll have to wait until the arraignment on November 10, or, more likely, until the trial.

Where did you find that Natalie has an arraignment hearing on 11/10 - ?? The court site still has 9/27/21 as the last date for her. Just wondering - so I can keep my notes straight! TIA!

Kern told the Times he worried that Taylor 'was living under a tremendous amount of pressure' having lived and worked on his own since he was 18 and being in a marriage Kern described as 'contentious'.

The client said he would often hear Kern on the phone to his wife at the gym and hear 'her yelling at him'.

'He'd be very apologetic and she'd be yelling at him,' said Kern.

He described him as the 'nicest person that you know, then multiply that by five'.
