I can't see it happening now that he's shot himself in the foot repeatedly but then I think about Barry Morphew and I know there's a possibility. Here's hoping that the missing gun, apparent preparations to flee, and repeated violations of both the GVRO & court order will be enough to keep him behind bars.

He's clearly threatened others, a risk to his own children, and a flight risk! I also doubt that LM has C A S H.

If Barry Morphew was like 98% of his neighbors in Chaffee County, even though being granted bail, he too would be sitting in jail until his trial-- unable to fund his release.

I agree with one caveat, that Maya's family be allowed to visit with the children in a neutral zone. The beach, a pier, a park etc. With a court appointed supervisor.
Not because I think Maya's family would do or say something to upset these kids, but, because a court appointed supervisor would be able to testify that they did Not.

Everyone here has been so worried and concerned for the children. Before anymore changes happen in their lives, it'd be good to consider their frame of mind. They must be afraid and feel very insecure. However, the one thing that hasn't changed yet is the children are in their home and in their neighborhood. That's the house they know. That's the playground and school they know. There lots of memories of Maya there too. They were used to LM's parents living with them,

The children probably didn't want to go live someplace else while their mother was missing. They were probably hoping somehow Maya would return and things could go back to the way they were in happier times. Consider that they might miss Maya's family, but there's a possibility they don't really want to go live with them. Perhaps, they just don't want anymore change.

Most likely, there has been some heavy "persuasion" by LM's family to view Maya's family as the enemy. Even if they remember damning evidence against Larry, he's Dad, and has been there for the past 9+ mos. working on them. I don't know what Maya's family will be able to offer the children in a new living situation to make up for all they've lost. I think, the courts are going to look at what was and not want to disrupt. The Family Courts should be able to ensure that if there's a transition that the children don't feel like they're being whisked away.

First order of business is to present the idea of things having to change now. Pointing out how important independent counseling would be for the children before further changes are made in their lives. The children need to process and accept all they've been through, and that a change is going to be necessary. All MOO.

LM is just looking for someone to blame for why his wife would not want to be with him anymore and, instead of a healthy person, is totally incapable of looking at his own behaviour. Yes, there is. I've used it a few times and it's very helpful.

I think it would usually take more than a few gunshots to permanently damage one's hearing. But I didn't see any hearing protection in the photo of the guns and stuff, so it wouldn't surprise him if he's been habitually careless about that.

If giving him headphones removes yet one more attempt at "I didn't understand", "I didn't hear", etc., i'm all for it. This feigning ignorance didn't go over well with the judge, and I doubt the general public is buying it either.

To me, this is a straightforward case. Maya outgrew Larry. There was alleged violence in the relationship, and she seemingly had enough; wanted out. He was outraged, paranoid, and did some crazy, desperate things like pay for "spells".

Then, what sounded like (alleged) gun shots came from their home one night, and Maya is never seen again. We know the rest, that appears to be damning against LM. It's a mountain of highly suspicious actions, emails, and statements from LM.

It appears clear cut. A woman who wanted out, and a jealous and possessive husband who couldn't let go. It's a very sad story that we hear far too many times. I feel badly for this whole family. It seems they all had many years of happy memories together, and they are mourning not only the loss of Maya, but of Larry; their long-loved relative as well. How profoundly sad.

Some people just can't let go. Allegedly, LM is one of those.

Agree completely. While it seems like a slam dunk, what is missing is the irrefutable proof that the sounds caught on the neighbors video cam are gunshots. It is my current understanding that it can not be verified that they are indeed gunshots. The defense attorney will use this as "reasonable doubt".

However, I'm hopeful that the DA wouldn't have given a nod for an arrest if they didn't think they could convict. We'll see. Unlike other supporters, I haven't been impressed with how this case has been handled. I hope I will be able to change that opinion to a more positive one. I certainly want to.

IMO, homicide is seldom clear-cut or straightforward. Seems to me that embracing that belief can only lead to disappointment with an investigation.

I think MM married very young and like so many women before her, MM came to learn over a period of time that what she perceived to be love and protection by her husband was in fact psychological and emotional abuse by a controlling, disordered individual. I also think LM kept a large cache of weapons including an illegal assault weapon in part to threaten and intimidate both MM and the family.

I don't believe MM was the victim of gun violence inside her home. Although blood analysis is circumstantial evidence, the arrest warrant does not cite any forensic evidence of blood loss identified as belonging to MM or evidence of an attempt to clean up any blood. The AW summary of probable cause provides that based on the totality of the investigation and circumstantial evidence including surveillance video, phone, text and social media communications, and mo[t]ive, we have probable cause to believe that Larry Millete unlawfully killed his wife May and disposed of her body on or about January 7-8, 2021.

As with most homicides where no body has been recovered, I think it was necessary for several months to pass prior to LM's arrest to establish no proof of life: we know MM has made no contact with anybody since January, used no funds to support herself, and is believed deceased.

Although LM already alleged hearing loss for why he was using headphones during his last hearing, I was reminded of defendant Michelle Tronconis (Jennifer Dulos murder) where after attending proceedings without assistance for more than a year, she suddenly decided that she required an interpreter and was quick to motion how her civil rights had been violated for not arresting and charging her in Spanish. And when it comes to LM, absolutely nothing will surprise me!

In the photo attached you can see the bench press in their garage. I think LM was losing his and his testosterone was pumping, so he released some of that energy on the press…

Following along that timeline I organized from the warrant, IMO at 10:34pm Maya told the kids to go outside as LM could have begun escalating his behavior following his weight lifting. I think he could have used that time (with the kids outside) as his opportunity to lay hands on her.
IMO Maya was still alive when the kids were outside, because Maya’s phone doesn’t disconnect until 1:25am, and LM communicates to the spellcaster one last time at 2:36am.

It would be easy to get turned around in the Joshua Tree/Twenty Nine Palms area (with many many abandoned mines) which Google thinks is about 2 hrs 49 min from a Chula Vista. He may have felt pretty safe using his GPS once he’d driven a ways back out.

I have always believed she is in a cavern of sorts, close to water. Not a well, but a cavern. But I think we are both thinking along the same lines. I think she has been "deposited" somewhere vs. weighted down or buried.
I need to go look at the maps again.
