^ This seems like a really unprecedented request or maybe I'm just unfamiliar with how the news works. But I think the Judge should unseal the records. What's there to hide?

Snipped by me. I don't know about this particular request, but generally it's pretty common for there to be legal back and forth between media outlets and LE/prosecution over documents, search warrants, and other case information. The media obviously has an interest in keeping as much information as possible in the public eye, and many investigations want secrecy, so there's a lot of conflict that the judicial system is often called on to resolve.

The hearing is set for Jul 21. Let's hope there is an arrest before that. I agree the records should remain sealed, for now. It could potentially jeopardize the case, or at minimum, create a situation where there could be validity to move A trial (*if there is a trial*) outside of Chula Vista.

The neighbors know there was a sizable cache of guns removed from that home. Further, they know that there is a *possibility* that there were gunshots inside the home. *At this time that is unconfirmed, and alleged* As such, they are well aware of what appears to be a volatile situation in their neighborhood, and should take necessary precautions until the situation is resolved.

IMO (opinion only), I would be down at City Hall complaining about this perceived danger to the community, and be demanding action. I recognize an investigation requires time and thoroughness, but it's time to accelerate this case to secure the peaceful enjoyment and wellbeing of the neighborhood.

Caveat: I have no idea if a crime was committed at that residence and I am not accusing anyone of anything. It is up to law enforcement and a jury to decide that. I'm saying that if I lived in that neighborhood I would be scared, and I would demand action, and answers. This has been going on too long. What a nightmare.

Chula Vista is a bedroom community to San Diego, my sister and mom live in San Diego and have only heard about it in passing in the news. Us armchair sleuthers and some locals pay attn but I don’t think the county of San Diego at large is tainted. But you have good points. At the same time, I feel as if most locals view it as DV and don’t feel at risk.

I haven’t been on web sleuths for a few months. I cannot believe that no one has been charged with Mayas disappearance as of yet? It is also concerning that the children are still with their father. Are the children still estranged from Maya’s family?

As far as we know, yes.
Agree this sad, grotesque circus has gone on far too long.

I hope Larry's father/protector is part of his downfall. His behavior and outbursts are bizarre, at best (as seen in post #322, first video). You can find the entire confrontation in various FB groups for Maya. It's plain weird how he's acting.

Tick, tock, LM.

I find him objectionable and what he has said (on camera no less) in front of the children abhorrent. However, people say stupid things when caught off guard and with a mic stuck in their faces. I will give him a slight hall pass due to that.

6 months to the day.
Makes me sad, really sad. I still get tears in my eyes when I watch Maya play guitar and sing on those videos.

JMO, I'm sure Maya's Family was right on this from the very start, and let LE know what to look for. There were signs and arrows from Day One. Geez, IMO, LM gave that painfully revealing telltale interview letting the world know he didn't seem to think highly of his wife of 21 yrs. MOO, I felt on edge the minute I heard it. How is it we're still waiting six months later? MOO, whatever happened to Maya must have been more planned and had more helpers than I initially thought. Dear Lord, I wish they'd find Maya or there'd be a big break in this case soon.

I just keep reminding myself that we waited a full year for B. Morphew's arrest, and I'm so glad we did wait (not very patiently). It looks like the case is going to be a strong one (thank goodness and fingers crossed). The waiting is so annoying for all of us on Websleuths, so I can only imagine what it feels like for Maya's family. Horrific, really. I'm hoping LE are trying to be very sure they've got their guy on the day they finally bring him in, so that there is not a single possibility he will be released after that, ever again. It's the kids that makes this one so tough. They need to get safely to May's family. Then, perhaps, we can collectively exhale.

I will say it again, tick-tock, Larry. Your day is coming, and soon.

Maybe he'll get arrested at his gun hearing on 7/21 when he's in court....

Now until that court date is an especially dangerous time for the children IMO.

This may have already been answered and I apologize if it has, but has child protection services had access to the children? How about friends of the family that can attest to their well being? The last I read Maya's family had not been given permission to see them. Is that still the case?

^^bbm

The family has since had to seek help from the court to see the children after LM refused them any access to the grandchildren. No further report on the status of their petition. MOO
