i think Diana makes a lot of sense for this doe. her page on the charley project says she may have been traveling to washington from fontana, so it’s a very real possibility she traveled through mcfarland on her way there

I'm going to do some speculating given jewelry and circumstances of recovery that this lady was engaged/married (ring with white stones). Ring was found on the body but case file does not specify particularly which hand. Remains were buried, which to me implies some semblance of familiarity with whomever buried her.

I'd also say this lady was quite coordinated with her clothing. Red and white everything, down to her underwear, except for the "burnt orange" sweater. The sweater is a California label, Joe-Lee, perhaps picked up because the weather was chillier than expected (?). The only thing I really found on Andy's Juniors were etsy listings and patent info as linked to a company out of New Jersey (Ardence).

I wonder if she was with her person (or someone she knew in some capacity) travelling, perhaps even over Valentine's weekend or on Valentine's Day (a Sunday) dressed in her red and white when she met her end here?

The town of McFarland, as of last census, was a town of 12,000 people. Not big. Her remains were located buried in the foothills east of town.

that's a good point about the sweater potentially being an indicator of the time this person expired. when i was looking at this before i thought that Diana Munyon was a good fit, who was last heard from in May of 1982 in Fontana, CA, so I looked up weather data for that month/year and the average temperature in California at that time was about 60 degrees. that's chillier than i would expect it to be, honestly. Diana was also from Mississippi so it would make sense that she wouldn't be familiar with CA weather/know what to expect.
