This all makes me think of Shaniya Davis. Not sure why but she keeps coming to mind. :(
Oh Lord, let’s hope not!! That picture of her in the monster’s arms stepping into the hotel elevator haunts me to this day.

Historical charges might fit.

And as you suggest, give LE enough to hold her. Apply pressure. Get the answers they need in order to locate Melodee.

JMO
Think she’s in her twenties, likely not related to her.

He also said Buzzard was spotted at a gas station in Santa Paula, California but without her daughter.

On October 27, Garcia approached Buzzard as she was dropped off at her Lompoc home by a medical transportation vehicle.

Noting the siting in Santa Paula.

Yeah so she must have gone through Fillmore on her way back.

What do you make of that?
Sounds like she had a doctor's appointment that day and took advantage of their courtesy vehicle for a ride home? Weren't police watching her every move by then? Maybe they saw her leave home when the med. transport vehicle picked her up, allowed her to go to her appointment, and waited til she got back home to arrest her.

I doubt that she came home from a medical facility barefoot though. So they maybe let her go in to her house for awhile, at least time enough for her to kick off her shoes. and then arrested her.

Wonder why they mentioned the med transport vehicle at all then?

That was 10/27 though.

Oh, I have something wrong then! I thought they arrested her after she returned home in a medical transportation vehicle. Did they arrest her on 10/27? I'm confused.

OK, i see the quote in that post, "On October 27, Garcia approached Buzzard as she was dropped off at her Lompoc home by a medical transportation vehicle."

And then below that is the link for that info, which is a DM article with the headline saying Ashlee had been arrested.

So I put those together.

But I didn't read the article (can't open DM here). So what were they talking about in that quote? "On October 27, Garcia approached Buzzard as she was dropped off at her Lompoc home by a medical transportation vehicle."

I assume Garcia is a police officer? What happened on that encounter between Ashlee and LE?

Or do I still have something mixed up?

Garcia is the private investigator hired by Melodees paternal family. No worries it can get confusing 😩

Ahh, I see. (sort of!) Did he say if he was able to talk to her that day? I probably just need to read that article. ;-)

Detectives Arrest Ashlee Buzzard on Unrelated Charges; Search for Melodee Ongoing

Posted November 7, 2025

Lompoc, Calif. – Sheriff’s detectives have arrested 40-year-old Ashlee Buzzard on charges unrelated to the ongoing search for her missing 9-year-old daughter, Melodee Buzzard.

Detectives learned of a recent incident where Ashlee prevented a victim from leaving a location, against their will which constitutes false imprisonment. This crime is not connected to the ongoing search for Melodee, however, detectives are unable to fully outline the crime as it would impede their ongoing investigation.

On Friday, November 7, 2025, detectives arrested Ashlee on a warrant for a felony charge of false imprisonment. She will be booked at the Northern Branch Jail with bail set at $100,000. Her booking photo does not meet the criteria for public release and will not be distributed.

Although this arrest occurred during the course of the missing person investigation, it is not directly related to Melodee’s disappearance. Sheriff’s detectives remain fully focused on locating Melodee and confirming her safety.

Members of the public who have seen Melodee or who may have information about her whereabouts are urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office through any of the following methods:

• Detectives Line: (805) 681-4150

• Anonymous Tip Line: (805) 681-4171

Ashlee's mother, Lori Miranda, said Ashlee is bipolar and has been evaluated for her mental state from a young age.

"I know my daughter needs to be in a hospital," Lori said.

According to a Santa Maria Times article from 1995, when Ashlee was 9 years old — Melodee’s age now — she and her mother were homeless and hiding from her "physically, verbally, and mentally abusive" father. They spent their nights switching hotels and visiting family.

Lori said that there is "a lot more going on than the media is portraying" and that her daughter's bipolar diagnosis causes her to make up stories.

Make up stories?…

Hoping someone with medical/RL experience can chime in on the Bipolar aspect. I have some limited knowledge through a next door neighbor. She wasn't a great mom ...

can't even guess what this other incident is about, because we know so little about the buzzards' life. unemployed mom, homeschooling. iirc, neighbors say they don't see them much ... do they even leave the house?

With the FBI involvement and all the multiple states. It seems lthis is more complicated than the average case. They have chosen not to arrest or even detain Ashlee, there has to be an investigative reason for that beyond PC?

Something is driving that, sort of feels like it may be linked to trafficking? Is my imagination getting the best of me?
That was my very first reaction.
