The human remains were found on Dec. 14 in an area of Nevada known as Devil's Gate, near Silver City.

I am familiar with the area noted on the map that article referenced, which is near Lake Tahoe, in western Nevada not far from Reno. This didn't make any sense to me and I found the Devil's Gate Slot Canyon much closer to Elko NV.

I shared that link earlier when trying to find any news reports about a body being found within the last few weeks in the travel area. Apparently that poor soul was not Melodee.

This also lines up with the sighting of the rental vehicle in Panguich, UT

The area where litte Melodee was found is near a popular route for tourists visiting the Utah Big5 parks. It is a route that one culd take from Bryce Canyon NP to Capital Reef NM and Canyonland NP or Gobelin State Park.

It's so hard to fathom a mother shooting her 9 yr. old daughter in the head and just dumping her body like trash.

It seems to have been in the middle of nowhere, but it's actually not very far from a road that is common route for tourists visiting the Utah Big-5 National Parks. It's not anywhere near as isolated as Ashlee probably thought it was.

The mother of Melodee Buzzard was arrested Tuesday and accused in the death of her 9-year-old after the girl's body was found in a rural area of Utah more than two months after she went missing in Southern California.

Investigators uncovered a "significant amount of evidence" that indicated that 40-year-old Ashlee Buzzard killed her daughter, Santa Barbara Sheriff Bill Brown told reporters. Buzzard is being held without bail on suspicion of first-degree murder, Brown said.

"Maternal filicide is rare and always difficult to comprehend," the sheriff said. "This level of criminal activity is particularly shocking given the calculated, cold-blooded and criminally sophisticated premeditation and heartlessness that went into planning it."...
