GUILTY CA - Michelle Hoang Thi Le, 26, Hayward, 27 May 2011

Great article!
I see the poll shows almost 100% wanting to publicize pictures of GE's car.

Only 2 People voted.

Can't wait to see what PD finds in Giselle's car.

Thanks guys - and yes it's too early to judge poll results - the article is too new.

Something I'm wondering about though, if LE thought GE was a suspect, why did LE not take her car earlier? Couldn't she have got rid of evidence? Unless they did take it for awhile?

I know they took her computer and some other things.

I saw that big red bar in the "yes" section of the poll, but I didn't see the small print saying only 2 had voted. <sigh> I hope more people will see it.

I'm not sure when LE took her car.

I hope for her family's sake it is Michelle and if not I hope they are able to determine who it is so some familly will be able to bury their loved one.

I wonder if this area corresponds at all with GE's cell phone pings.
That's what I was wondering - unless like we were speculating GE returned to move her somewhere else. Then the pings would not matter unless LE has been tracking her phone pings after Michelle disappeared.

They keep going back to search the Niles area but it seem like if Michelle was there she could not be that hidden, especially by a slight 4 month pregnant women.

Decomposed body found off of 101 about an hour away from Hayward. Autopsy being done:

http://www.gilroydispatch.com/news/278971-update-body-found-off-hwy.-101-too-decomposed-to-id

It's not Michelle.

If PD is correct about Michelle being murdered on the 27th of May, the body would be more than "severely decomposed." There would be mostly bone by now, not really a body. Especially since that body in the article didn't appear to be buried.

"Due to the fact the body was so badly decomposed there were no distinguishing marks on the body,"

So everybody take a deep breath. Keep hope alive, Michelle may be out there alive still, hopefully.

Oh no problem you guys. No offense taken. It just seems that if this was a crime of passion, even though it may have been premeditated, that GE would not have fully thought this out. That she killed/injured Michelle, then left her somewhere in a panic. I'm just speculating. To leave Michelle's car nearby makes me think this was not well planned. Why didn't she just get rid of Michelle's car? That would have put a whole new twist on the case?

I am thinking she may have returned to make sure her tracks were covered. And that she may have used her car, maybe within that 2 day time frame when she did not think anyone was looking at her yet.

I am going to try to go on the search party this Sat. but I was getting a queasy thought. What happens if I/someone else finds her? I am getting the chills thinking about it. I know it needs to be done but I had not really thought this out. I am going to have put it into my brain that I may see something that day that could be a life changer. I imagine though that the head of the search party explains all this. The effects.....etc.

The more I think about it the madder I get at GE. To put the family and other people through this. I have no doubt she is guilty. I know innocent until proven guilty but there is just so much evidence of past behavior, in my mind anyway.

I wish she would just crack and spill the beans on where she left Michelle, as I know all of us wish for.

Bless your heart, DLynn.

Yes, the head or coordinator of a search team should talk about this before beginning any search with volunteers.
It is very common (in wide-scale volunteer searches) to have one or more people participating who have volunteered because at one time they found closure (either a positive or negative outcome) through a search for a missing loved one. I've always found that to be helpful in easing anxiety.
That said- searches are not for everyone, and there is absolutely no shame in being uncomfortable with the prospect of encountering a situation that may change your life. Each individual has to do what they feel they can deal with physically, emotionally, and mentally.
Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses, and all are extremely valuable.
If you are uncomfortable with any of the challenges associated with a search, then you should be completely comfortable knowing that you are FAR from alone- and that there are many, many, many ways to help.

I love our team, when someone says "I can't go out on this one, guys. I'll hang out and keep the water cold for when ya'll get back." :)

It is no sign of weakness. It is a sign of strength.

I can't understand how the cell phone pings can't be important.
A) if they both signaled from the same tower at the same time.
(they are near each other or with each other)

B) if they ping off the same towers at the same times they are traveling together.
( or in different vehicles following each other)

C) When Michelle's phone stopped, it either stopped due to a dead battery, was found and
turned off or broke.
If Giselle's cell was in the area of the last ping of Michele's that could be a good area to search.
If Michelle's phone last pinged in Oakland or san leandro she could have been place in a
garbage container.
Things to consider are did Giselle find her phone and play a game to lead people off course.
Assuming it happened quick and it was premeditated.
Could have happened like this. This is a speculation sight so here goes
Giselle calls Michelle and tells her something to get her to the garage.
This is where it's strange, where they friends at that time?
Was Michele the type of person who wasn't afraid of confrontation.
GE calls Michelle and says I hate you (????) and im going to key your car right now,
Michele grabs her keys and heads to the garage to confront GE.
I don't think it was a gunshot, I think it would have echoed. (But who knows)
Ge Hits Michelle on the Head and puts her in Michele's car.
Now is where the cell phone pings come in to play.
start stop etc
GE takes Michelle somewhere and disposes of her.
Drives the car back to the drop point gets into her own car and is gone.
I believe Michelle's car was found on Saturday.
Does Michelle's car have GPS, onstar or fastrac.
Now GE has days to go back and finish hiding the body.

So many variations' of this Did she hit her on the head drive to her own car transfer the body.
Did she drive to Oakland etc and transfer the body to a dif vehicle.
See we dont have all the info so this is pure speculation.
Was there calls between both phones prior and after the break at the hospital.
I believe it said she left her purse at the hospital.
How many woman leave there purse and go to there car. Does she have a locker.
Did she ask someone to watch it.
It was daylight at that time, How did GE get into the garage did she walk did someone
else drive her in, have they checked the plates of other vehicles that entered that day.
Have they checked Michelle's other accounts facebook etc is there threats etc on those accounts?
Have they checked GEs Visa, Mastercard gas card etc. where did she travel that day did she get gas etc.
have they checked GEs past cell phone pings, did they keep coming to a remote area, like someone is casing a place to dump a body.
Have they checked GEs bank statement did she withdraw a large amount of money to
possibly pay someone to dispose of the body.
Sometimes putting Ideas on here can trigger other ideas that can help.

Good questions, but police know about all this. They have the cell records. They have footage. They have access to their computers, credit cards, facebooks,...

I wouldn't think Giselle would dump Michelle's phone UNLESS at the very last minute she finally figured out that phones can be traced. If it was pre-meditated and planned out, which is does seem like, she would have tossed it to begin with. She left it on along with her own cell phone which was a key piece of evidence proving that Giselle took Michelle. Their pings were in the same locations at the same times.

Thank you for giving that advice. It's very helpful. I don't honestly know if actual searching is for me. Maybe I'l just stick with my writing tips about finding her. Food for thought. Thank-you.

Maybe she did not even find Michelle's phone until after she had killed her, if it was in a pocket or something. Maybe by then she was at the site where she left Michelle and it was too late to do much about the pings.

I imagine though that the head of the search party explains all this. The effects.....etc.

I am reminded of what I read about the GI Joe Search & Rescue group that came all the way up from So Calif to help in the first search for ML.

They pulled together as a search & rescue group only a couple of months prior to the ML search when their own friend was swept away while crossing a river during a hike. Frustrated by the authorities' search, they did their own.

It turned out that one of their group WAS the one to find the young man's body (yes, he died), trapped under a log.

One of the rescuers said, "We were not prepared psychologically for what happened and have had trouble sleeping ever since. They [the LA County Sheriff's Dept] were looking at us through binoculars while we dragged the river. Who's prepared to pull a dead person from a river and hold them in their arms? Our feelings have nothing to do with Joe or fear of the dead, but with having your own mortality stare you straight in the face."

So, yes, DLynn, you're right to think hard about it. Not that I have any experience with searches of this nature, but I agree with everything that Oriah posted to you.

Thank you for all you are doing. I am sure ML's family appreciates you. We Websleuthers do, too! :)

That makes alot of sense. I do think the pings are important, I'm just wondering though if LE continued to monitor her phone after (like from then on), and did they check her phone records before Michelle disappeared? I'm sure they did.....

I wish they would give the Team leader a digital camera on all search teams.
(what does a digital camera cost today $25.00) x lets say 4 groups. $100.
I drive through the Niles sometimes on my way home and see the orange tape still up
from 2 months ago. Have these spots never been checked by LE/Higher ups.
If they have why hasn’t the tape been removed???? At least with a tamper resistant
Camera they could have instant access to what was found or an area to look further at.
And this could also have a permanent record of a area, so if she is found in that area
items could be noted that can blow away or wash away when the rains come.
Everything is dry now this is a good time to search.

They are searching the area around Lake Chabot today. I had not even thought of that area but GE could have gone that way via Oakland/Hayward. There is a road that goes up around Lake Chabot that I believe is pretty desolate.
I have decided not to go on the search tomorrow.I don't think this is for me. I am going to continue what I do best by getting the word out.

I think you're very smart. You thought it through, considered the reality of what could happen , and continue to do what you can.
We know your heart is with the searchers.
Thank you :seeya:

It seems the family of ML have come to terms with the strong likelihood that ML is no longer alive:

From the link--
"On Friday, as about 50 volunteers scoured the area around Lake Chabot in Castro Valley, family spokeswoman Krystine Dinh said things have changed since Le's former friend Giselle Esteban was arrested last week.

"The focus is still on bringing her home for a proper memorial, and a proper goodbye," she said."

I can't help but feel such strong feelings of sympathy for this family. Krystine Dinh is also quoted in the article as saying,

""There are three stages," she said. "There's fighting for Michelle, there's closure, and there's justice. We won't have closure until we find her -- right now we're still fighting for her.""

We should all be so fortunate to have someone like Krystine on our side.
