CA CA - Mitrice Richardson, 24, Malibu, 17 Sep 2009

I'm not so sure her "alternative" lifestyle - if she had one - is crucial here. Though it certainly could be. It seems she was experiencing some type of mental crisis on the night in question. I hope LE and her family have checked the homeless shelters, mental institutions and hospitals in the area.

I so hope she is ok.

It sounds as if she suffered a mental break of some sort, if she is delusional she could have wandered anywhere or fell victim to a predator.
While she was in jail, did she talk to any other inmates while in there in intake?
Someone who might be privy that her car was impounded, maybe she mentioned to them she was going to be walking somewhere?

LE should have a record of others inmates who may have been released the same time of night she was, it may be possible she was stalked..

"They allowed her to walk out of that facility and down that road in the pitch black night," he told the Los Angeles Times. "That's not right. Now, I just want to find my child."
The woman's mother said deputies told her nearby residents had called to say a woman was sleeping on porches, indicating to her that Richardson was stumbling around a nearby residential neighborhood early Friday. Her parents filed a missing person report with the LAPD."

So she was last seen "stumbling" around a nearby residential neighborhood? Seems to me that she maybe was still acting out of sorts? Is it possible the jail just didn't care and released her anyway since they had no room?

I have been following this story from the beginning and find it very odd that 10/14's article in the Surfside News was the first news article that made it known that Mitrice was openly gay.

================================

Other news stories have alluded to the fact that Mitrice is gay.
Her myspace page said as much.
Other blogs have said that Mitrice is gay.

dreamweaver- Have you read that she was gay anywhere in a "news" article?

Sheriff’s department insistence to the contrary, Ronda Hampton, a clinical psychologist, in whose office Richardson did field placement while an honor student at Cal State Fullerton, told the Malibu Surfside News that the young woman was clearly under some form of stress.
Dr. Hampton said, “Mitrice’s appearance changed dramatically in a brief period of time.” She suddenly stopped straightening her hair, wearing an Afro, which some blacks might regard as more ethnic, but people who knew her said they almost didn’t recognize her.
Richardson was sending undecipherable text messages about nature and the universe, according to Hampton, and there were postings on social network sites she wouldn’t explain.
When told that Geoffrey’s staffers said Richardson told them she had no parents, Hampton said the young woman was very close to her mother.

So, does the woman they're looking for look anything like the pictures that have been released? If not, it makes me worry. But then again, perhaps she is out there and the folks looking for her just don't realize they may be seeing her?!?!?

I would think she would look closer to her booking photo, and maybe a little rougher at this point. She seems to be such a beautiful, smart, young lady. I hope she is found safe really soon and gets the help she needs.

I think that if Mitrice is out there, perhaps she took a bus into Los Angeles,
she may be at homeless shelters and yes, looking a little rougher than
her news article pictures.

I really hope the police are checking all homeless shelters and hospitals.
I hope the police have interviewed all Mitrice's friends from both jobs.
I hope the police have interviewed anyone new in her life.

I had read that people from the neighborhood where she was seen the morning
after she left the police station were going to meet with searchers and family
and show the vacant homes in that area.
Thinking, I guess, that maybe Mitrice had found a way inside and was living
there.
But I have never seen a follow up to that story.

I think I will post on her Facebook page and see if that took place or not.

I just wanted to post that I think you are right dreamweaver, I wasn't aware until I finally got caught up on this thread that she had such a change in her psychological state.

It does sound as if she has had some sort of break, and she could very well be moving in a manner that I call "off the grid" for a lack of better word. It doesn't imply that she is deliberately doing it, what I mean is she is utilizing homeless shelters and such.

But the longer she remains out there in her present mental state the more likely she could become a victim that will want to exploit her or outright harm her in some way.

I hope she comes home quickly.

I pray to God that she is okay but I have my doubts.
Many, many jails throughout America will not release women/inmates after a certain time because so many have turned up missing and or dead. They should have kept her until the morning or until someone could pick her up.
If something happens to her it is completely the sheriffs department fault.

I am hoping at this point that Mitrice has hit rock bottom and will be found.

I am also thinking local LE should be totally investigated.

Hampton and Richardson’s family have not just left this case up to the Los Angeles Police Department; they have been staying active in the search for Richardson by organizing search parties almost every day. Members from surrounding communities have been more than willing to help out as well, Hampton said.
Chuck Knolls, a detective from the LAPD has been handling Richardson’s missing person’s case.
“We have been following up on all leads, and we have contacts with the community county-wide,” Knolls said.
