Authorities today asked for the public's help in finding a 23-year-old woman who suffers from schizophrenia and bipolar disease and went missing in Lancaster.

Monica Rose Nielsen was last seen leaving her Lancaster home around 8 p.m. on Sunday but authorities did not disclose an exact location.

Nielsen requires medication and has the mental capacity of a 10-year-old, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Nielsen is white, 5 feet 10, 200 pounds, with dark red hair shaved on the left side of her head and mid-length on the right side, and blue eyes, authorities said. She has a rose tattoo on her left shoulder and a marijuana leaf tattoo on her lower back.

*UPDATE* Missing Person Found Safe, 23 Year-old Monica Nielsen of Lancaster


On Friday, September 7, 2017, at approximately 9:10 p.m., Monica notified family member that she was safe and unharmed. She has been reunited with her family.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department would like to thank everyone involved for their help in trying to locate Monica Nielsen.
