RIVERSIDE, Calif. - A Southern California couple convicted of murder after their teenage daughter slipped into a diabetic coma and died have been sentenced to prison.

Riverside County Judge Raymond Youngquist on Friday sentenced 63-year-old Gregory Latham to 17 years to life and his 53-year-old wife Yvonne to 15 years to life.

A jury on March 24 convicted the couple of second-degree murder and willful child endangerment.

Their 17-year-old daughter Nanette Latham was found unresponsive in the family's squalid mobile home in Cabazon in 2006.

Oh what a horrific way to die.

How? How can this happen?

Any diabetic can tell you what it's like to bottom out. It's awful. Poor Nanette. May she finally have the peace and dignity she deserves.
