Nathan was last seen in the city of Baldwin Park, located in the San Gabriel Valley area of LA County on December 14, 2025.


He was traveling alone from his home in South Dakota to California. His sister says he doesn’t know anyone in CA. His vehicle was located and impounded on December 26th.

Relatives said that Sowle had a brief interaction with a Baldwin Park Police Department officer on Sunday, December 14, 2025 during the afternoon hours.​

During that encounter, Sowle reportedly informed the Baldwin Park Police Department officer that his vehicle was parked and that he had walked approximately 10 miles.



He also requested directions to return, according to his relatives.

The "brief interaction with LE" might have been nothing more than a vehicular infraction (warning). South Dakota court records show he had a a few teen vehicular charges (i.e. speeding, seatbelt), the last in 2017. He went missing right before we got a major Christmas storm.

We’ve gotten a lot of rain down here the last 2 weeks.

Thanks for the clarification. So often we hear "interaction with LE" and people immediately think of wrongdoing when many times it's something minor in nature (not coming to full stop at a stop sign when no one but the cop was around, brake light out, etc).
