I have heard stories from from my oldest daughters dad's family that I have tried to find info on his mother who supposedly died in 1984 cant find no record. Her parents lived 7 minutes away from where Janedoes body was found. If anybody could find more info her name was Joyce Ann Dean married once last name wolf. Told she died in car accident in June 1984 but I can't never find any records of this

I get on these kicks where I will research everything I know about this family I've never been able to find anything on this woman. That's when I ran across this Jane Doe and there might something here.

If she died in car accident 1984 why can't I find it. Why can't I find anything at all on her. More importantly her Aunt was Lorreta Dean of Sutter Buttes Dean's Ranch . You can find everything on her.

Welcome to Websleuths Mervin999. I also tried searching for Joyce, but nothing comes up. Who told you that she died in a car accident? And just wow, the fact that Joyce's parents lived only 7 minutes away from the body, stunning. Did they ever hear about Jane Doe?

"
You can see the exact location where Nevada City Jane Doe was found on the 12-26-75 podcast’s Placer Unsolved + Unidentified Sierra interactive google map (note, even though Nevada City Jane Doe was found in Nevada County, it is included - as a Golden State Killer/Joseph James Deangelo possible):

[click on the Unidentified Female 7.8.84 icon in the center of the map to read description or zoom out to see all the other JJD possibles. Note two cases mentioned in this thread, Placer Jane Doe 77 and Donna Lass, were found just 10-15 miles east of Nevada City Jane Doe - and within ~1000-1500 feet of each other.]

What about Jennefer Lee Nosler? It was thought she had disappeared in 1986 however it’s now been discovered that she possibly went missing in 1984. She had a child she put up for adoption when she was young. Her family have been able to locate Jennefers daughter but not her.

Was thinking about this case today - may not be that relevant of a detail since Nike was a nationwide brand by the 1980s, but I was thinking about the possibility she could have been from Oregon (specifically around the Portland area) or even as far out as southern Washington because of the Nike headquarters and the prevalence of Nike gear worn there. Oregon would fit the colder climate bit too. Then again, it is quite far.

I also was wondering about her jeans. I feel like growing up in Northern California I saw more Levi's rather then Calvin Klein jeans around since the headquarters are in SF.

I believe this means the shoes were manufactured either October 12, 1981 or December 10, 1981 (unsure of which format is correct). Not sure what the KC2 means at the end of the barcode.

There were several murders quite close to where this Doe was found. The murders of Melissa Mattingly and Tina Marie Shrader in 1984 were mentioned by the Nevada County sheriff at the time.

"Deputies eye Sierra killing link" The Union, July 12, 1984, pg 1.

"Nevada County Sheriff's investigators....were looking into possible links between the deaths of a woman found bludgeoned and strangled Sunday near the South Fork of the Yuba River and two 17-year-old girls whose bodies were found in Sierra County on July 4."

"Authorities said [Nevada County Jane Doe] received blows to her head which may have been severe enough to be fatal had she not been strangled with an electrical cord."

"Dental charts and several fingerprints have been sent to the DOJ"

"The nude bodies of Melissa Mattingly, 17, of Fresno, and Tina Marie Shrader, 18, of North Highlands [Sacramento] were found bludgeoned July 4 in Sierra County.

"The girls were last heard from May 27...hitchhiking to the Santa Cruz area."

"An autopsy revealed the backs of their heads had been bludgeoned."

The suspect of the Mattingly and Shrader murder was found not guilty in 1988. He had worked with Mattingly and admitted to taking the girls to Lake Tahoe. He allegedly left the girls in the company of an "unidentified motorist with out of state plates".

Here's more on the two teens.

I was able to see the video on Facebook. I copied the link from the menu below the video on the bottom right ( the ... menu), using Copy Link. Here it is, see if this works for you (you'll need to be logged in to Facebook to see it, I'm pretty sure): EDIT: turns out this link is the same link heartanium posted above. Well, anyway, see if either one works now.
