CA - Newborn abandoned in Lakewood, Los Angeles

A newborn baby just a few hours old was found abandoned in grass near Hardwick Street and Lakewood Blvd at around 6am this morning. A passerby heard the baby crying and investigated. The baby is in stable condition.

Police are treating this as child endangerment but also urge the mother to come forward as she may need medical attention. CA has a Safe Haven Law where babies can be dropped off in a safe place, no questions asked.

Why do they always want the mom to come forward? She obviously cannot or does not or will not take care of the baby. There are probably 100's of couples in that county that would go to the floor on their knees, thanking God for the chance to adopt and raise this baby! Let them get on with their new life. Issue a new birth certificate and a new SS card and move along.
