Kern County Sheriff's Office searching for missing man in Lake Isabella

"A group was boating in Lake Isabella [...] when several members of the group jumped into the water. [...] High winds in the area caused the boat to drift". Nicholas "went missing when he was unable to swim back to his boat Saturday."

The rescue team resumed their search shortly after dawn. They used a drone to search the shoreline, water and inland. They also used four watercrafts to search the water. They used sonar to look for objects under the water that could be Smith. When they found something they sent a dive team down to check it out.

Sgt. Williams said the challenges in their search was under ten feet of water viability is next to nothing, because of the elevation the divers could only dive for ten to fifteen minutes at a time and would need to wait about an hour an a half between dives.

Missing man's body found in Isabella Lake

A body has been found in Isabella Lake during a search for a man who went under over the weekend.

Kern County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Steve Williams said the body seems to match the man they’re looking for, but no identification has been confirmed.

UPDATE: The Kern County coroner on Tuesday afternoon confirmed the body found in the morning is that of the missing man, Nicholas Davonte Smith.
