This is the case of a stabbing death of a Palm Desert woman in 2019. 33 year old Nicole Henderson was allegedly killed by her live-in 21 year old boyfriend- Colin Holbrook of Escondido.

The article below states that there was a settlment conference in April, but I have not been able to find any additional information.

Any help is appreciated.

The last article I'm finding is him pleading not guilty but trying to change to a guilty plea and then being ordered to undergo psychological services. Perhaps those are still in process and things were delayed.

If you know enough information you can search the court calendars at this site:

Thanks, I had seen that, and an update that said the psych evaluation determined he was fit to stand trial.

Never saw any updates on this case. How does one search sentencing, if available?

He is not sentenced. The town of Escondido is in San Diego County and should not be in the thread title. The opening post used his middle name Colin, and the 2nd post used a link to Los Angeles. Shouldn't the thread title reference the victim instead of the murderer, and the correct location of the crime in Palm Desert?

Facts I found:

Richard Colin Holbrook DOB 9/14/1998 lived in Escondido, CA. He is arrested for murder in Palm Desert, Riverside County, CA. The case is scheduled for the Riverside Superior Court - Indio. The charge is 1st degree murder penal code 187A with $1,000,000 bail. He is being held at Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, Riverside County, CA, with Sheriff's booking number #201942062. The court case for the murder is Case #INF1901872 and the next hearing is scheduled for 3/24/2021 at 8:30AM and it is called a "felony settlement conference". He also has a misdemeanor battery charge M242 hearing at the same time.

These are the two links - the trick is to locate the inmate to find his DOB or else the free searches for the courts will not work:

The two may have been dating.

I wonder if this has gone to trial?

A 25-year-old man who fatally stabbed his girlfriend at her Palm Desert apartment, where her young son was present, was determined by jurors to be insane at the time of the crime.

The same Banning jury that convicted Richard Colin Holbrook of first-degree murder for the slaying of 33-year-old Nicole Henderson returned Tuesday afternoon with a finding that he was not mentally competent and therefore couldn't grasp the consequences of his actions.

[...]

The judge scheduled a placement hearing for May 6 at the Banning Justice Center. Holbrook is slated to be placed in a state mental hospital for an indeterminate period.

He's being held without bail at the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside.

Earlier story
After deliberating less than a day, a Banning jury on Tuesday convicted Richard Colin Holbrook of first-degree murder for the 2019 slaying of 33-year-old Nicole Henderson.

Along with murder, jurors also found Holbrook guilty of child endangerment and a sentence-enhancing allegation of using a deadly weapon -- a knife -- in the commission of a felony.

Because the verdicts were reached late in the day, Riverside County Superior Court Judge Rene Navarro deferred discussion regarding a sentencing date, setting a hearing on the matter for Thursday morning at the Banning Justice Center.
