Don't know much about San Diego, but Pacific Beach is close to the airport, both are in the coastal area, while La Mesa and Lemon Grove are quite a distance away, on the east side.
Does she have contacts or any reason to be in the La Mesa/Lemon Grove area? purse/phone was found near a salon in La Mesa? Sounds ominous. All IMO.
I just saw this one. I lived in and around the San Diego area for 35 years and was a paramedic there at one time so I’m very familiar with the area. San Diego, like most cities, has neighborhoods and further out suburbs around it in rings. Technically, Pacific Beach is a neighborhood of San Diego proper. The airport is also in the city, about 15 min South of PB.
If you look at the rings going out. Lemon Grove and La Mesa are kinda in the first ring of suburbs from the city but East. Further out would be El Cajon, Spring Valley, Lakeside, etc.
What matters more is what surface streets & highway’s are near you and where you are trying to go. I lived down in North Park for years but was going to the community college in Santee. It wasn’t too unusual to be within that first group of suburbs for anything from a doctor’s appointment to work or a favorite fast food spot.
From where she was at 70th and University, She could have jumped on the 94 and (traffic conditions permitting) still been at the airport in 15 minutes. Right there at the center, it all kinda blends into one big knot that has to do more with the time of day and traffic, than distance. University and 70th is sort of a sketchy area though. Lots of Mexican taco stands, pay day loans and liquor stores. What I’m surprised by is a girl in an Audi spending much time there. You can sort of see what I mean by looking at the satellite image.

University and 70th are both major roads, so it would amaze me if nobody saw anything. Do we know if she actually had an appointment at the salon? I’m almost thinking car trouble as the reason to stop, considering where she was…
or I could be completely off base and she decided to stop for dinner at Der Wienerschnitzel on the way to the airport. It’s one of the few left. It’s the only notable thing I can think of on that particular corner. I do pray that someone saw something.
Update (04/13/22): Nicole Paré was seen on a security camera on 04/11/22 around 7:00 p.m. in the La Mesa area near 7000 University Ave. Her vehicle has since been located. She was last seen wearing a light-colored tank top, multi-colored patterned leggings, and white sneakers.

CBS 8 spoke to her father, Albert Paré, who told us he's afraid his daughter may be in a medical crisis.
The father said a good Samaritan found his daughter's purse in La Mesa Monday night with her cell phone inside. That good Samaritan used the cell phone to contact family members but Paré is still missing.

If her father is worried about a medical crisis, it could be something like Diabetes too. It doesn’t sound like this girl has had a past history of episodes like forgetting to pick a relative up from the airport or disappearing without a word. Dad says this is unusual for her. #trustthefamily

Edit: One other thing. This is more of a vehicle crossing spot than one for pedestrians. It can be a dangerous place to use the crosswalks.
