Indeed !
The arrest came a bit late but at least they have enough to put him behind bars.
Wish Nikki had been able to escape him.

I do wonder how much his mother-in-law or other in-laws or friends of Tyler know ?
Imo.

It sounds like someone came forward:

I’ve waited for this arrest for over a year, very grateful it’s finally happened. With potential enhancements - hopefully Tyler will spend the rest if his life in prison.

Their four kids are really the ones impacted here. Lost their Mom and now Dad. I hope they are receiving therapy and have limited time with his family for reasons I won’t go into.

A long-cause preliminary hearing has been scheduled for September 3, 2025, with no time waiver. The DA's office said a preliminary hearing is estimated to take three to five days. Additionally, a plea disposition conference was scheduled for September 2. They said all appearances will be held in Department 41, before the Honorable Judge Adam Ryan.

Until then, McCain remains held in the county jail without bail.

Better late than never. Hoping the children are safe. If I was closer to this community I'd be checking in on them

I think Nikki’s sister has had the kids for quite some time. IIRC, she didn’t have custody of them when she disappeared.

He should have been in jail way before. didnt really follow this case like that but I do remember how hard Nikki's sister searched for her.

REDDING, Calif. — Tuesday was day 8 in the preliminary hearings for the case of Tyler McCain, who is accused of abusing and then murdering his wife in the spring of 2024. Her body has still not been recovered.

After a brief recess mid morning, Holroyd returned to the stand to go over the forensic interviews performed with three of Nikki and Tyler’s daughters. She claimed all three shared details of abuse they witnessed. The eldest called Tyler McCain "possessed", and shared that their mother would use the four children as shields to stop Tyler from coming after her. One described a moment where they woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of fighting, coming onto a scene where they described Tyler throwing their sister to the ground, and then beginning to beat and attack Nikki.

Following the forensic interviews, the prosecution returned to the cellphone data collected. Unveiling the last time Nikki’s phone connected to cell service was May 27th and 28th of 2024. Almost two weeks after she initially disappeared. Holroyd explained triangulation data put the phone in the area of Tyler's home at first, and then in the early hours of the 28th it was pinged again near Redding Rancheria property where Tyler McCain's mother and grandmother live. Before it shut off one final time.

This marked the end of Tyler McCain's preliminary hearing. After three weeks of various people taking the stand and presenting evidence, visiting Judge Thomas Bender has made the decision to move forward with the trial. Therefore, Tyler McCain is set to appear in court on October 7 at 8:30 a.m. for his arraignment.

After three weeks of preliminary hearings, visiting Judge Thomas Bender said there was sufficient evidence to proceed to trial. Monday was a review hearing in McCain's case.

McCain's mother lives on the Redding Rancheria property in South Redding. On Monday, it was discussed in court that the Tribal Court is planning to meet this week to discuss the McCains' four young children, who are under the temporary care of Nikki's family. Shasta County Superior Court Judge Adam Ryan is presiding over the trial. He plans to review the information from the tribal court when it's presented, but maintains an independent courtroom. Information about the children won't be shared publicly.

My God I hope his mother isn't going to try to get custody of the kids. IMO, she covered for Tyler and knew he had killed Nikki.

In response, Borges said he has been diligent after being given 4,500 pages of information from the prosecution, including 2,000 pages in the last 30 days, not to mention electronic records.

Then, lead Prosecutor Sarah Murphy told the judge she has subpoenaed more than 100 people and expects six to eight weeks of testimony.

After hearing both sides, Judge Ryan granted the motion to continue and scheduled the next court appearance for December 16 at 8:30 a.m., where a new trial date will be set.

Couple months in jail with no drugs and Tyler is plumping up nicely. Hope he sees Nikki's face as he tries to fall asleep every night.
