Were they able to tell if she would be paternal or maternal cousin? Did they say?

I don't think it's her, since Janice is 5-7 inches taller and weighs a lot more. And I don't think she looks much like a reconstruction. But! If you think she might fit, send it to NamUs or DoeNetwork Also, NamUs mentions that the person who went with Janice came back without her.

Does anyone know if there's an update on this case following the genealogy research that had been done? I can't find anything further online but it seems like the research got so close to figuring out her name.

Can someone confirm this:
The shotgun detail: #7 and #7.5 shot are actually bird shot, relatively small pellets, typically used for hunting birds or skeet shooting. That's unusual for a deliberate execution. It caused death but it's not the load you'd choose if pure lethality was the goal. This might suggest the weapon was a hunting/recreational shotgun that was opportunistically used rather than a purpose-bought murder weapon.
