I agree, and they were there again last night.

Still absolutely zero updates from authorities but that's honestly pretty normal for this PD.

This town has a LOT of very vocal citizens and the community is used to the drama some of them create. Local authorities tend to just let them go off. Local city council meetings are always interesting. On the news, you'll see a Jennifer Wood talking to reporters. She's a former mayor and a real piece of work. Her heart is in the right place, but like many community members out there... drama follows.

Home of missing California City boys, ages 3 and 4, searched by FBI

* New video shows an FBI forensic team searching outside the home.

* FBI agents in hazmat suits were seen on the property.

The police I'm sure, I bet they contacted her from get-go and looked into her exes, fam and alibi to make sure she didn’t attempt to take her kids back, definitely procedure. <modsnip>
The fact they didn’t name the boys OR plead for them to be found was not good.
Absolutely the FBI knows a ton more than we do, so I’m going to refer to their actions to tell me where this is headed and just hope for a press conference soon.

wish @MassGuy and @GordianKnot were here!
Hope the other babies are with loved ones being showered with hugs and kisses and comfort on this very sad Christmas :(
Right, that makes total sense, I didn’t even thought of that! Unfortunately, I don’t think these poor boys will come back.

From what I saw in the posted vids I don’t think they were actual hazmat (which protects the investigators from chemicals, fumes etc) but rather head to toe covering so as not to obscure evidence.

I’m hopeful since we’ve been hearing reports of bags and evidence being taken out that there will be some answers and that the babies can be brought home soon.

I imagine that now that they’re done searching the home and the yard fully that they are now testing evidence and tracing location from cell phones etc. to broaden their search for the boys.

I’m assuming they brought in cadaver dogs to check the van, I wonder if they made any hits.

it seems like the timeline might be lengthening, anxious to see what forensic investigators found as they sifted through the dirt..
Wonder what led them to the spot in the yard that they searched and also wondering if they really did break up concrete like the witness was hearing over night? Did they just want to see if a fire pit in the ground was free and clear or something?

Hard for me to imagine the kids being missing for longer than reported since so many others were in the house. Even a 5 year old knows the difference between days and weeks!

Eh, the news was wrong here and, honestly, just repeating what the community was saying. Similar to how the news kept reporting them as the kids' foster parents. Just not entirely accurate. Those aren't true hazmat suits. They are PPE/Tyvek. Those are two entirely different things, actually. Hazmat suits are much heavier with a helmet/breathing apparatus. Those are the basic tyvek suits they always wear when doing dirty (but not hazardous material) forensic work. If there were true hazardous materials needing hazmat suits, we would have seen the Kern County Hazmat unit there.

The person they showed walking at the 20 second mark, what he's wearing looks more like the disposable coveralls CSI agents wear, than an actual hazmat suit.

Either way, I suspect that was to prevent any cross contamination of evidence, and just the fact that they're there, in coveralls, searching... doesn't bode well for these little guys.

"I open up the back gate, I’m throwing wood, bringing it inside the house,” Trezell West said in an interview with 23ABC. “My wife’s inside, she was actually wrapping gifts so we thought it was a good idea that our youngest two go outside and play with chalk on the back patio.”

Two boys in California City are still missing

I wish people would speak in past tense about what had happened. It would be easier for me to understand.

Yes, I think the reporter is just using the wrong term.

Now this is interesting.

"...basic tyvek suits they always wear when doing dirty (but not hazardous material) forensic work..."

Sad that they have to wear them at all.

Any word yet on the last time the kids were seen by someone apart from family? And the time the parents called 911? I know the dad said they were gone at about 4:30 or 5 but did he ever say when they called police?

This picture was provided to 23ABC, by a neighbor of the adoptive parents. Neighbors say the backyard was the main point of the investigation tonight.
Crime tape surrounds home of adoptive parents of missing boys

You can see the lights which were brought in last night, IMO LE is digging in the back yard.
DIGGING?!? :(

DIGGING?!? :(
Yes FBI brought in huge flood lights and forensics team to dig/sift in the backyard beginning at around 9pm Wednesday. No word on any evidence they were able to obtain from that search, but apparently they were very noisy according to one of the neighbors. Jackhammers being brought in really gave me pause and confused me.

they wrapped up the search and took down the crime scene tape so it seems they have moved on. Hopeful they find the babies so soon how heartbreaking !

Trezelle West, the adoptive Father of the boys, spoke to Eyewitness News from the other side of the door. He said he is not allowed to come out of the house, but would like to thank the community for the support.

BBM: so this statement bothers me. In all the years I’ve been here on WS I don’t believe I have ever heard of being told not to come out of the house. Has anyone else?

If LE actually did use jackhammers then it would imply something happened way before December 21. I wish we'd get an official update.

Probably COVID related. Maybe his wife has forbidden it.

Of course it's weird and he could have worn a mask...shades of Leticia Stauch...

Quote RSBM. Yes, I have definitely heard in other cases of missing children that the parents must stay in the house and not help search, etc. I don't think he's making this up and do believe LE would have asked him to stay in the house.
This is good - it protects the integrity of LE's investigation and keeps everyone safe.

The reporter here says that neighbors last saw the kids a day to a day and half ago-which I believe was about the time they were reported missing. Perhaps the media has that incorrect but if true then I am even more inclined than I had already been to believe the adoptive parents are being honest.

Thanks for that info! Yeah, if that's the case then there'd be no time to hide bodies or any other evidence under concrete or some other material requiring a jackhammer. So what was LE doing??

I guess it depends on the circumstances. In the Maliyah Bass case LE noted that the mother and boyfriend did not attempt to search for the missing child at all, which they thought was unusual behavior.

However, in Suzanne Morphew's case LE apparently would not allow her husband or the public to participate in the search.

It may also depend on how large the search area is and the terrain. If it's dangerous, LE may not want anyone other than search teams to be involved.
