I believe the tape has been removed but will ask one of the neighbors that I know. Some of the area was blocked off last night in an effort to just give the neighbors a break from the onslaught of loitering types and people wanting to "help" or gawk. But it was also to give the LEOs a buffer so they could process the forensic search of where the boys were reportedly last seen. From what I know of CCPD they are often tight lipped about things like this, and it's not their first major case. Unfortunately, they have seen a lot of things like this for such a small town. One of the problems with this town (and I know having lived there for 10 years) is that because it is so remote it often attracts those who are trying to hide from the law. Probation and parole sweeps are very common out there. They had a major SWAT event just last week, and a man who had been missing for several years was finally found out in the vast desert. The town is known of it's missing people and unsolved murders, unfortunately. At least the locals are very familiar. It doesn't make the mainstream news very often. There's ONE hotel in town, a Best Western. There is no full-service grocery store, that's about 25 miles away in Mojave, though there is a small market a RiteAid and a Family Dollar. For some reason there are a ridiculous number of Mexican food and pizza restaurants, but only one fast food, a McDonald's that everybody hates. Any trip out of town usually take about 45 minutes to an hour... and people go north to Ridgecrest, west to Tehachapi, south to Lancaster/Palmdale or east to Barstow. So as you can imagine, the community is fairly...insular isn't quite the right word, but you get what I mean.
Quite a few people have been standing there just yelling and screaming at the LEOs, not really sure why. <modsnip: Removed rumor/hearsay>
BTW, I'm not suggesting this is what happened here, but to just give you guys an idea of the terrain we're dealing with. This house is on the eastern edge of town, and the area is very often visited by predatory animals like coyotes and cats. It's very common to find coyote dens in the vacant lots near these homes. There is also a major raptor breeding area just north of town, so large birds of prey are regularly seen out there. I used to live on the north end of town and my backyard was a constant stream of pretty amazing wildlife. It's a remote desert area, but it's also a beautiful area with a lot of wild animals. People in town regularly lose their cats and small dogs to predators.
