Step-daughter of deceased woman discusses shocking discovery and unanswered questions surrounding the case

Video included in news article & below

Robert's adult kids flew out after he had a stroke amd Robert's friend inform them about Mary's body on the freezer.
This friend is not charged with anything at all, ot seems. Maybe the friend found this out right before Robert's kids arrived?

Seeing her picture i really wonder if 1 person was able to put her in a freezer all by him self. She wasn’t petite & a freezer is quite high.
Yes agree for some reason I had a picture in my head of a tiny frail lady.

I too wondered the same thing. Not only the reasons you mentioned, but she'd have been dead weight and dead weight is not at all helpful when it comes to moving it around. In fact, after sitting here thinking about it before posting, I can't imagine how in the world he was able to do that alone. She was a big girl. Unless she had lost a lot of weight beforehand to make her more manageable.

Well, this picture is hardly recent and old people do tend to lose weight, especially leading up to death. So it can go either way. And of course, sheer determination and being at the privacy of your own home also helps.

With the right equipment, it wouldn't be difficult at all.

Or even without one of those, you could construct a ramp with some plywood and then use a wheelchair to roll the body into the freezer. Or attach a pulley to a ceiling joist and pull her up that way.

There are lots of ways it could be done.

I was surprised seeing her picture that she fit into a chest freezer at all. I guess without knowing more about the chest freezer, it's hard to say. That also may have been an outdated picture. It's unfortunate Robert's family has to deal with the aftermath of this. Mary was an only child? No siblings? I recall some people looking into her family in posts way back on this thread, but it's been awhile.

Agree.

Plus, it was said that this was a hoarder property. Ime, hoarders are very industrious at moving, lifting, stashing, stacking, making things fit, ....

How I perceived it sounding, as though the friend knew, and had been keeping the secret, but I could be wrong. That's a screen shot from the news video of the back patio area.

At about the 1:09 mark says the friend informed family of the freezer.

So who actually lived at the house and why was the family visiting? That’s the part I’ve never understood.
From earlier posts here, it sounds like the son of Robert's (Mary's stepson) either lived at the house for awhile or visited there?

Maybe that was just a media misinterpretation?

I can see if anyone visited the house either before or after Robert moved out, that they wouldn't go out to the area where the freezer was, so not know about Mary being in it. However, depending on how long she was deceased, did anyone not wonder where she was during that time.

It looks as though the hoarding has spread out to the garden and outbuilding. It looks very chaotic in appearance from the news footage

You can tell by her hair and makeup, that is an old photo. I doubt she was still that weight. I work with elderly and I have noticed that the older they get, the less they eat. MOO

She very well could have died from natural causes and the husband was too afraid of calling anyone because of his hoarder house. Hoarders have to live in secret because the city could condemn the building if not cleaned up. Of course, still cashing her checks could also be a motive for not calling authorities.

Hopefully Mary will now have a proper place to rest in peace.

And if the body was wrapped in something. So sad.

I believe the info about Mary's stepson living there or even visiting there before the events of Dec, 2023 was just a misunderstanding/misinterpretation from inaccurate early news articles. It appears that any info on how Mary ended up in the chest freezer went to the grave with Robert Haxby.

Based on the details in the article, you'd think LE could still kind of narrow down a timeline. When the "friend" was asked to assist, surely they must have had some idea as to when and what condition Mary was in at the time. JMO.

I can see why the friend never reported being asked to hide her body now. Yikes. It's interesting there were major injuries to her body. It sounds like those happened from being in the chest freezer, and perhaps, moving her there/trying to get her in there, but it makes you wonder a bit. Of course, given her physical ailments, it's entirely possible to believe her death at her age was natural. I do wonder if Robert Haxby was entirely in his right mind when he covered up her death (and perhaps murder). Or if he was in his right mind if he did kill her.

Either way the friend should be able to remember when they went over to help Robert Haxby move Marys body. JMO.
