This is another reason why police should do everything possible to avoid killing a suspect, no matter what. Shoot the suspect in the arms or leg, shoot them with rubber bullets, use tear gas on them, let the suspect use up their ammunition, but avoid killing them. Killing the suspect is a nice safe easy way out for the cops, but in this case it blew any chance of them ever solving this crime.

I'm sure he killed her and hid her body somewhere or he never would have ran from the cops as he did. I'm glad they killed him as he probably killed her so he got what he deserved instead of a life in prison taking care of him feeding him and giving him free shelters with tax payers money only to never give up where she is and even after finding her body he still would get s nice life of prison while Pearl is murdered. Sierra Lamar missing March 2012 her killer has never given up her whereabouts even after being caught he still hasn't gone to trial and he's been incarcerated 4 yrs. hopefully it's starting soon. His DNA all over the place. I'm glad cops killed. I'm sorry, I'm glad cops killed that creep. She was bleeding then. Im sure he finished her off.

I think it was the easy way out for him. I don't like that trials take long, but life in mainline prison isn't really fun. he might have gave up her location, maybe not, but for sure now he will not and her family doesn't have closure.

With all due respect, according to the article I'll link below, Castro was firing at police. Whether he thought he'd get away or whether it was suicide-by-cop, who knows? Allowing him to 'use up' his bullets could be deadly for the police as well as any innocent bystanders. If he made it to the car he was attempting to steal, then that vehicle becomes a weapon. Tear gas creates a fog. IMO, it's a good idea for LE to be able to see the perp. If police attempted to shoot to wound/incapacitate, there are risks there. Suppose the perp is still able to make it to the vehicle and is able to flee the scene (with LE hot on his trail) then passes out behind the wheel. That would be a huge liability to the general public.

My hubby is ex-LE and they were trained to shoot for the center of mass (chest/torso) and to assume they only had one shot to stop the perp. Aiming for an arm or leg on a target who is likely moving (and in the case of Castro, is also firing a weapon) is a nice idea in theory, but not practical in the real world. I have a lot of respect for LE and the decisions they must make in a split second.

Do I wish Castro lived long enough to tell where Pearl is? Absolutely, but as we see in the Sierra Lamar and Diana Alvarez cases, the bad guys don't always talk.

Please understand that I'm not picking on you KaaBoom. I'm just offering my perspective. All MOO.

According to police, what appeared to be blood was found on ground near overpass. Surely this has been analyzed and if blood, linked to Pearl (or not.). If he shot her, Why would he want to carry a heavy dead body away knowing he may have been seen? And if he put the body in a car, even if stolen, someone should've noticed blood and reported it. The shot is not a good sign.

While I agree that all of the signs are not pointing to a good outcome for Pearl, I believe the speculation about the shot on the overpass was that it was a warning shot (& not that he shot Pearl there). I do think the blood was hers though, maybe from an injury she sustained during the struggle. This is totally my opinion, but I don't believe she was killed on the overpass. I believe she was killed at some point after they left that immediate area.

I would like to know how exactly Castro was identified as the man on the overpass? 100% .....I recall the witness saying a Hispanic man with reading glasses (which makes no sense, reading glasses on a highway overpass, while kidnapping someone with a gun?)
How was this identification made precisely??? Just wondering....and thinking some awful thoughts.

I don’t know. I don’t believe it has been reported how Castro was identified as a suspect. But I can think of at least two possibilities. 1. Maybe the police tried to contact Castro to question him about PPs disappearance, and found out that he was missing. He was missing, she was missing, and the cops put one and one together. 2. Possibly some witness identified Castro as a suspect.

Sad that there has not been any closure for family and other loved ones.

Pearl where are you?

I'm coming to this thread a little late in the game. Why do we know absolutely nothing about the suspect? That's a mugshot. What is his background?

Your right, nothing on Castro. I posted a similar concern in my #418 post. All I could find was he was on probation for a past robbery. I have not been able to sleuth anything.
Ps. When you write, that's a mugshot, do you mean where's a mugshot? Or did you find one?

I tried to trace him but his name is too common.

She was seen being dragged and then put into a car by a Hispanic male. There's probably not a lot of old gold sedans around like that. If the witness got the plate number, or even a partial, it wouldn't take long to find the owner.

Absolutely, IF they KNEW the vehicle. That's still not clear. LE stated there was a delay in the Amber alert because they didn't know a vehicle was involved. Pearl was kidnapped Wed. Am, by evening they named Castro. The Amber alert came Thursday.
I'm just curious to how the original ID of Castro was made Wed.?

There was a rumor that answered that question, but I could never find an acceptable source for it.

Maybe I can speculate that someone alarmed by his behavior called, and LE put two and two together.
