So you think we'll hear something Monday, or you think it'll take all day?

ID and MOD by the end of Monday. If they can tell what COD is, LE might withold it for awhile.

To all reports, Phuong's entire family is undergoing great grief and pain right now, first with the horror of Phuong going missing, and now with the tragedy of a body being found that matches her description, and having to go through the trauma of waiting for a confirmed identity.

This is not the time to cast aspersions on members of Phuong's family, about whom no indications whatsoever of wrongdoing have been surfaced by LE, the press, friends, or anyone else.

WS is a victims advocacy forum, considers the family, friends, and loved ones of victims to be victims themselves, and treats them with dignity, fairness, and respect, as they undergo trauma and tragedy.

Thank you -
BeanE

Thank you button just wasn't enough for this one. Thank you BeanE...my heart is just so broken for Phuong's family right now and what they are going thru. This has to be the longest, most painful weekend for them that anyone could imagine :-(

One of the saddest things right now is looking at her beautiful, smiling face and thinking how much she could've done with her life. :rose:

More bizarre stuff from that William guy (assuming it's the same William):

It simply astounds me what some people will do to get attention.

And it's MOO, but I truly believe if this "William" had the best intentions of helping, he'd/she'd contact LE privately -- not put intriguing little taglines on the newspaper website like the blurb on the back of a mystery novel. :furious:

I sure wish they pick up this guy so it doesn't happen to anyone else. Losing one is devastating enough we don't need a repeat performance.

She is (was?) a beautiful woman. So sad for her and her family. :*(

Missing Woman's Family Loses Hope
Updated 6:09 AM PDT, Mon, May 10, 2010

The family of Phuong Le says they aren't holding out much hope that their loved one is still alive this Mother's Day. They said they think the body found Friday in rural Napa is Le.

"I have a feeling it is her," said Le's brother Houng Le.

They said they are waiting on the official word from the coroner. An autopsy is being done on the body Monday.

The family said investigators told them the body not only matches their sister's description, the victim also had a jade bracelet and a watch similar to the one Phuong Le was last seen wearing.

"(We're) just wait for official confirmation," said Houng Le.

Investigators said they haven't named any suspects but the owner of a postal express business has been questioned after reports of a personal relationship with the missing woman.

On Saturday, KCRA stopped by the business to ask Thuc Ngygen if he heard about the discovery of a body.

"I can not believe it," said Nguyen, Le's former boss.

Ngygen asked the reporter to turn off our camera. He said he would leave up her missing person's flyer until he gets official confirmation from police.

I honestly don't know how I'd react to something like this. It's human nature to hope it's not her, but then there'd be some guilt or conflict for feeling that you're hoping it's someone else. Another reason why the media should have kept their mouths shut and allowed the police to contact this family when it was appropriate.

I think what's so horrible for this family (and so many others who have had to wait) is that, logically, they're all sure it's Phuong, but nobody can properly grieve or absorb what's going on or even begin to accept it without LE's 100% positive confirmation. So this whole weekend, the parents and siblings may have come to some kind of terms with their loss (as much as they could), but then they have to do this all over again when the results are released.

It's so unfair and so cruel! So many more victims in this case than just Phuong! It's psychological torture, and I wish the law outlawed that!

Claudine Wong for KTVU News reporting live from the Solano County Sheriff's Office, Coroner.
Autopsy was scheduled to begin at 10:00 am but was delayed while waiting for FBI agents to arrive with some special equipment. Finally got underway at about 11:30 am. Could take two hours to several hours or more.
Sheriff's are there, FBI, Fairfield police, lots of people involved.

Hmm...I wonder what "special equipment" they may have needed.

"Solano County coroner's office Deputy Adrian Garcia said Fairfield police will be informed of the identity of the body when it's known Monday or early this week. A time of death has not been determined, Garcia said."

Maybe it's just me, but I don't like how this article's statement of fact...
"Le disappeared after an argument with a family member April 25."
...leaves something of a lingering implication that I feel is unwarranted. MOO

  • #398
Well we don't really know for sure what is unwarranted at this point...Le has been keeping pretty mum on the whole case since talking to and searching the ex-boss' home and business more than a week ago. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens. Am not saying that they are looking at anyone in particular, but the way they are taking their time and being careful with what they released makes me think they have some ideas as to what happened.

PS- Please don't take my post as thinking anyone in P's family could have harmed her...I can't imagine that. I just think LE is on to something...also very curious about what special equip. they needed and did not have...

I agree so much! What a terrible thing to do, especially over Mother's Day weekend - the poor mom, my heart breaks for her! I can't remember a high profile case where the autopsy was put on hold for so long with no apparent reason. And on top of it all - media brought the family to the body site...how horrendous!!!! We all know the body is hers, my gosh who else would have her jewelry on? I haven't cared for the way this case is being handled since the very beginning. moo
