CA - Police say phone company refused to help find missing Corona child

Well, our cell phones are in both of our names. Besides the husband was right there, so why didn't they just say put him on the phone. Instead they stated that they would need a subpeona and $25? What are we missing here?

Baker - I don't know for sure if we're missing anything at all. Who knows what actually happened. It seems to me, and I could be wrong, that maybe had he called he could have tracked his own phone.

I would suspect it wouldn't take much to get a supeona/search warrant, whatever, to track a phone in a case like this. It sounds like the case was solved quickly, thank the Lord, and that didn't have to happen.

The whole point is speed. The longer the child is missing, the greater the chance it is going to be harmed. No it shouldn't take long to get a supeona. Probably just long enough for someone to type up the supeona, run it over to the courthose, find a judge who isn't in court, get it signed, then run it to a fax, fax to the telephone co. and wait for someone to pick it up and respond to it. Not long at all. Unless it is a kid- who may be with a pedofile, or a sadist monster, or desperate criminal sociopath. Then that hour could be critical. But then maybe it was a nice guy, so everything would be okay.

Mysteriew - I know. Time is critical.

Maybe in the future, people who get cell phones with GPS can sign a waiver if they want them tracked on demand. I would, for sure. Then, if my life circumstances changed so radically that I would no longer want to be tracked, toss the cell phone out.

I just don't think we can throw out privacy and the bill of rights. On the other hand, how cool would it be to carry a trackable cell phone, if you chose to.

We've seen many cases where LE used this info to track the calls of suspects or victims.

I don't know if a wife can call on demand and get the location. I don't think she should be able to, without some kind of prior permission.

So maybe this is where that is going. I'd like to carry a cell phone that is trackable on demand. A lot of people would, and a lot more wouldn't.
