Funny you should come and update folks. I was JUST thinking about this case a few days ago and wondered if there was any news. I'm glad that you're able to get this.

I read the report today.
He was found with a .22 caliper pistol. Two casing were found. One bullet was lodged in his brain. There was an entrance wound to the forehead and injuries consistent with the trajectory. The scene was undisturbed and he was found crossed legged with the gun in his lap. The report shows the serial number of the revolver. However the police will Not be looking for the owner. He was approx 130ft from the residence he was last spotted at and approx 190ft from redwood highway.
The toxicology report shows negative for everything drugs and alcohol Even thc.
His phone has not been found. (He did not have it at the hospital with him when he was released). His backpack and hatchet have also were not at the scene. He was last seen with those when he was dropped off at the residence.

First of all, I'm so sorry this happened to Raymond, and the fact you had to read that information. My heart goes out to you.

And you know, my first thought when I read your post above this one was... "In the forehead? How..... odd." I then held my hand up as if to shot myself in the forehead and found it a very awkward.

My 2nd thought was... "That sounds more like someone facing a person and putting a gun to someone's head". Not that I'm an expert on the matter but I'd think a self-inflected wound to the head would be at the temple, or under the chin. But the forehead?? That's not sounding very plausible to me which makes it shocking that LE has written this off as self-inflected. Why would they do that? Too busy? Not enough budget? Inept?

Here's something I'd want answers to. What was the trajectory path of the bullet? I ask these Q's because my thought went to someone making him sit down, then putting the gun to his forehead. If so. the trajectory would be downward (which is even more awkward than straight on for someone to do to themself) as the shooter would be standing. But, someone standing over a person sitting, it would DEFINITELY be at a downward angle. Unless, his head was tilted back and the path just so happened to be straight on. But I'd think it would be rare to have the path lined up like that in what would be a tense situation, and not practiced to get the tilt and path straight on. If that makes any sense.

OK, so I asked the Q in a pvt group I'm in and one of the members had a good point which I hadn't thought of:

Thumb in trigger. It’s possible, but I think most try the iconic gun to temple.

I agree about gun to temple, but hadn't considered the thumb on the trigger. It's less awkward feeling, but I'm still very doubtful.

I don’t know what more I can really do from here as he’s already been cremated but it doesn’t seem right to me.
I don’t know enough about the statistics.
He was left handed I don’t know it that makes a difference and the gun was a .22 revolver.

That makes NO sense!!! They seem rigid on their stance that it was suicide, yet it doesn't appear a thorough investigation was done. I'm puzzled.

I think it is the easy answer for a severely understaffed police force that is already under investigation thenselves
