Tragedy was not lost on the Spreckels family or heir to the sugar fortune:

Kay Williams Spreckels Gable married Adolph Spreckels whose family (father or grandfather built the mansion). Her son -Bunker Spreckels (step son of Clark Gable) inherited $50 million on his 21st birthday. Sadly, he died of a drug overdose before his 28 birthday.

What caught my eye in this story is the cover of the surfing magazine, and how much the woman with Bunker resembles Rebecca! RIP Becky.
