Human Remains Found In Redding

The discovery was made around 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning near Arizona Street, off of Churn Creek Road.

Arizona Street is just south of the Fly Shop on Churn Creek Rd. and runs into an unincorporated portion of the city behind the old Kenworth property.

The person called law enforcement and reported that they had found what was believed to be human remains.

The Shasta County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and located the remains. The Coroner's Office confirmed that the remains are human.

Authorities are not releasing any other details about the remains at this time.

Remains Found In Redding Belong To Missing Northstate POSTED: 4:19 pm PST December 14, 2011

REDDING, Calif. -- Investigators have linked the remains found in a pasture in southeast Redding to a man who disappeared in 2009.

According to the Shasta County Sheriff's Office, the remains are those of Christopher Michael Williams of Shasta County.

Williams' remains were found in a pasture field along Arizona Street, off of Churn Creek Road, on December 8, 2011. The next day, investigators returned to the field and found several more human bones.

On Wednesday, December 14th, his identity was confirmed through dental records.

Williams, a convicted parolee, was reported as a missing person by his family in September of 2009, at the age of 39.

Detectives say he has an extensive criminal history dating back to 1988. In March of 2009, Williams was transferred from the Shasta County Jail to High Desert State Prison in Susanville. Twelve days later, he was released from prison and returned to Shasta County.

A month before he was reported missing, on August 28th of that year, Williams was involved in a family disturbance at his mother's home in Shasta County. The case was investigated by Redding Police, who later issued a felony warrant for Williams.

That same day, Redding Firefighters responded to a truck fire in a pasture near Arizona Street, in an unincorporated part of the county. It was discovered later that the truck belonged to Williams. It's believed he may be the man who was spotted by witnesses at the scene, who reported seeing a man acting strangely near the truck at the time of the fire.
