The Sacramento Police Department is asking for the community's assistance in locating an at-risk missing person. The MP is 59-year-old Richard McClintic. Richard is at-risk due to medical conditions. Richard is 5'04, 120 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. Richard was last seen on October 25, 2025 in the 2000 block of San Juan Road. Richard was last seen wearing a yellow Pittsburg Steelers sweatshirt and blue jeans.

If you've seen Richard or know his whereabouts, please contact the Sacramento Police Department immediately. Thank you.

McClintic is nonverbal and has cerebral palsy, which limits his mobility and requires medication, his family said.

McClintic likely has run out of essential medication. Asked how critical it is, Klagenberg said, “He has to have it to live. He has to have it to live.”

He lives with a longtime caregiver, and the family says he would periodically check in with them.

“We’re doing as much as we can, calling the hospital, the bus company, the company that makes his voice box,” Klagenberg said. “We’re going to let the police do their jobs.”

The comments on the fb post are very concerning. I wonder how long it's been since his family spoke to him.

Sadly, his family has announced that Richard was found deceased in his apartment. Summarized from the linked article, the Sacramento PD confirmed that a body was discovered in his apartment, and they are waiting for positive ID from the coroner. The PD says that the death is suspicious. A person was detained for questioning. That person has been arrested for welfare fraud and is being held with no bail.

After reading the comments following the original PD post on FB, it is easy to speculate about the identity of the person of interest.

I wonder if she was actually a licensed or trained caregiver? Years ago my Dad fired his caregiver (a LPN) I was paying for, and hired a "friend" (unknown to me) who he played bridge with, who within a few days managed to start a kitchen fire that caused $80,000 damage while she left something deep frying while she went out to smoke and then forgot about it.

I sincerely hope Richard's death was from natural causes and she didn't hasten that by improper care or medication management.

Sincere condolences to Richard's friends and family. He sounds like he was well liked by people who met him, and loved by his family.

The police department identified the person arrested as 41-year-old Christina Cowens of Sacramento. She faces charges of unlawful disposal of human remains, grand theft, and concealment/ attempt to conceal a death. Charges may change as the cause and manner of death are determined.

*****
Police also identified Cowens as McClintic's caretaker.

McClintic's friends and family gathered to honor him at a vigil on Friday night.

"I'm not sure how a wellness check can be done, and a body was not recovered or at least seen on the first arrival of the police. Outside of that, we can only, you know, fantasize about what might have happened," he (nephew) said.

*****
Jail records show that Cowens is in the Sacramento County Jail. She has a court appearance Monday afternoon and is ineligible for bail.

Homicide? Wow, how horrific. Linked at the bottom of that news article was another article from a decade ago where Richard and his aide were quoted, and it seems like she was a legitimate caretaker to him at least to some extent.
Looking again to the article posted on Tuesday and seeing "McClintic's nephew said his uncle posted on Facebook in July that he had been looking for a new caretaker," I'm wondering what he was alerted by back in/before July after at least a decade of "help" from Cowens. Extremely saddened for Mr. McClintic and his family, and hoping he is at peace now.
