Found Safe CA - Robert Novak, 84, driving on I-5, accidentally crossed into Mexico, 26 Aug 2021

Sheriff’s Investigators are seeking the public’s help to locate a critical missing subject. On Thursday, August 26, 2021, at about 7:45 a.m., Robert Francis Novak, 84, was reported missing by his wife. Robert was last seen on August 25, 2021, driving his White 2018 Chevrolet Trax LS (CA#6CYD727) to his doctor appointment.

While returning back to his residence, Novak became disoriented and continued to drive south on Interstate 5 Freeway. United States Border Patrol advised Novak crossed the San Ysidro border checkpoint into Mexico at 7:30 a.m. on August 26, 2021.

Novak has been diagnosed with Parkinson disease and has the early onsets of Dementia.

Novak was in contact with his wife throughout the night, but was unable to find his way back to the residence. Novak currently has his phone in his possession which last showed his location in area of Tecate, Mexico. US Border Patrol is assisting with locating Novak in Mexico.

ive driven it twice (well my husband did ) but it is quite terrifying. the second time tho, they had put a lot more barriers so MX is working on it.

Im so glad Mr. Novak made it back safely!

Now, time to take away the keys. But, after his misadventure, he may gladly do so!
